    Long-armed Shrimp ID - Australian?

Thanks very much pixl8r, that's very helpful. Nice photos too. It's kind of hard to research when you don't know what you have! - These are my first Macro species and the aquarium shop couldn't tell me, and it's a good one. Looks like my guys will have to be relocated to another tank fairly soon.

    Pale Bolivian Rams?

Excellent. By the way, BR1 and BR2 sounds a bit...clinical. I called mine Terry and Kerry until I worked out which one was which. :)

    Long-armed Shrimp ID - Australian?

Yes pixl8r, that does look similar. Anyone have an idea of maximum size, based on the species it might be?

    About Blyxa japonica and runners...

I don't know if I have the plant IDed wrong, but mine don't grow like that. Mine put out runners readily, so I don't have a problem with propagating them. I just want to understand how their nutrition works.

Are you concerned about it being clean for aesthetics or hygiene? I've never thought about cleaning Java moss.

    Super Glueing Plants

I haven't used super glue, but I don't think you will suffocate the rhizome if you use it sparingly. I HAVE used cotton thread, and it actually takes years to break down.

    About Blyxa japonica and runners...

Does anyone know if plants like Blyxa that send out runners continue to exchange nutrients and energy via the runners between the parent plant and the child once the child is established, and if so, is it in both directions?

    Pale Bolivian Rams?

Sounds like love is in the air. I had a pair that mated only once, and their behaviour was completely different during that period. The rest of the time they acted like they hated each other. And, like you, I wasn't sure of their sexes until they actually laid eggs. I do hope they breed for...

My Tank Has Algae Problems PLEASE HELP!!

I guess I don't really think the break would make a difference - it's only the total time the lights are on that's relevant.

    kuhli loach advice

I believe kuhlis would be fine in a 10 gallon, as long as you keep up your weekly water changes and maintenance. I also think they would be fine with shrimp - they have tiny mouths. Remember if you you are considering transferring them from one tank to another how hard they are to catch!

Is the sun my "high light?"

I would go with XanAvaloni's suggestion of fast-growing plants, which is addressing the cause (too much light / nutrients) rather than the symptom (algal growth). Using animals for algae control can be a bit hit and miss.

    Long-armed Shrimp ID - Australian?

Well, I checked that on Wikipedia and got "Did you mean: indian whiskey shrine?" That would make it a Macrobrachium species I think, possibly lamarrei.
