    Batfish

Unfortunately disease IS an issue with the Pinnatus Bat. I once tried one several years ago as they are GORGEOUS bats. Unfortunately 90 percent of them come in with/or soon after arrival come down with fin rot for NO apparent reason. Once they get the fin rot (can only been seen by shredding...

What movie/tv show scenes made you cry?

For me it is the end of Man On Fire, it is one of my favorite movies but the end gets me everytime! The song is really what gets me, the ending is sad enough but then add in this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_3zDLP6bkM It does it everytime!

What kind of anemone is this?

When I worked at a lfs, we got them in under the common name Flower Anenome. Search under that common name and see if it can give you some more info, it looks a little bleached to me, but hopefully with proper care will make a full recovery!

I need help choosing a dog breed!

My favorites are the Shiba Inu's, they are similar to mini Akitas. They can be rather independent, are really clean dogs, mine doesn't shed much, and they are excellent guard dogs. They are very smart though and do test their limits, so training is a must for them. Just something else to...

    Shocked!

9 of the 11 were hiding in a surface plant that is fake, but is easily Anablep accessible. Two of the 11 were out free swimming ! Yep, the babies are in 1.010 Brackish water. They are all 11 still doing great! The big challenge will be the Anableps, see if they can raise kidlets. Time...

    Shocked!

So I have my tank of Brackish creatures (is home to 3 Anableps, 4 Dalmation Mollies, 2 Knight Gobies and 2 BBG's), and last night one of the Mollies apparently gave birth. I was shocked to find this morning 11 babies survived being in a tank of Anableps (who are hungry and on the prowl for food...

    what does "lots" mean???

It means if you buy 10, you get a price break of 18 dollars per cham. If you buy 11-25 chams, it is 16 per, etc. Is there no individual price? I would recommend LLLReptile for Chams, I have had great luck with them! http://www.lllreptile.com

How many BBGs in a 20g?

Most stores should carry them. I believe Petco even carries them, or at least they did at one point. We have a bunch of stores that carry them here. I have 2 in a 40g but not many hiding places for them as the tank is really for the Anableps, but they do great. Good luck with them, I think...

    Powder Blue Tang not eating!

Powder Blue's have a pretty notorious track record of being very difficult to keep. The keys are getting good healthy specimens that are eating in store, having an extremely well established tank (1yr plus), and keep them as stress free as possible to avoid Marine White Spot, aka Ich. Usually...

    Anablep breeding

Congrats! I ordered some last week and out of the 5 that arrived, only one arrived alive :(. I got credit on the others but it was still so sad to see dead Bleps :(! Somehow between WI and AZ they got really cold (water temp of 65) and probably started stressing as they all had really bloody...

    What food would be best?

I would try Frozen Formula One or Two (both worked best for me) by Ocean Nutrition. They sell it at Petco as I just bought some today for my brackish Anableps. My fish always loved the frozen Form One, Form 2, Prime Reef, and Trigger Formula. Anyway hope this helps and good luck!

    how many?

BB's are pretty territorial so the biggest thing is having lots of wood, decorations, etc to distract them. I would say you could probably at least do 3, I have 2 in a 20gallon. As to other fish, maybe a smaller Molly (Gold Dust, Balloon, etc). or a couple of Guppies. 10g are hard as many of...

    stock question

Mono's are SCHOOLING fish, so 1 fish is not going to work. It needs to be in groups of at least four, preferably 6 fish. They get to about 8-10 inches and require saltwater as adult so will very quickly outgrow the 55. I agree, your brother's tank is already stocked as it is with the puffers...

    Brackish Water Test Kits

I've used both freshwater and saltwater test kits over the years, usually depending on salinity. I currently just have 1 Brackish tank that is kept at 1.010 and use the Freshwater test kit on it. I checked the values last week and there was 0 ammonia, 0 nitrIte, less than 10 nitrAte, and pH...

    Weird Flake Food Question

When I had Monos and Scats and they started getting big, I switched to Frozen Formula One and Two (made by Ocean Nutrition), that way I could feed a cube or two and break off the size pieces I felt they would eat (and of course they would). They LOVED it and it made their color even deeper than...

    the secret life...

I think Brenda Hampton's other series 7th Heaven is SO much better than Secret Life, I watched it all season but it is just SO slow to develop. I figured at least by the season finale she would be 9 months preg ready to have a baby but no. Hopefully don't have to wait till the end of the next...

Will you help me with the quest for the west african mudskipper?

Mudskippers are BRACKISH, so there are no land lizards or amphibians that can go with them as it will dehydrate them and kill them. If you are so bent on getting a Mudskipper, why can you not just give it a species tank?????? A 20g will barely work for 1 Skippy, NOT 2!!!! A 30-40 gallon is...

    undulate triggerfish

Undulateds will eventually turn on EVERYTHING, including other Triggers. Between the Undulateds, Queens and Titans, those are the 3 most aggressive triggers. So Undulateds will do best in a species only tank (can't have other Undulates either) and if you want to try a couple of Damsels and see...
