My Tank Has Algae Problems PLEASE HELP!!

It's pretty strange for this to happen in such a mature tank if nothing has changed. I really would encourage bigger water changes. Look forward to hearing how you go.

Options for moving berried cherry shrimp.

I have also kept RCS with (adult) gardneri killifish, and the shrimp mostly went into hiding - in one tank I didn't see any for months and assumed the killifish had gotten them. But the shrimp reappeared as soon as the killifish were removed. So if you have some cover, some of the shrimp may...

Having a bit of an algae problem

Good for you - nothing wrong with keeping it simple, and I don't think there is any need to intervene to 'fix' this But diatoms, as others have said, are part of the story of a maturing tank. They're actually helping the tank come into equilibrium. Also, from the photos, they don't look too bad...

    Ammonia and possible mistake

Yes, as bradlgt21 suggests, with no fish in the tank, the bacteria have no food source and can die off.

    I didn't rinse my Fluorite...

I would suggest you avoid disturbing the 'gravel' - there is no need to do this at this stage, if ever, and you will keep clouding the water.

Coler, you should know that these need to be kept in a group of at lease six, preferably more.

My Tank Has Algae Problems PLEASE HELP!!

Algae need light and nutrients to thrive. you could add a floating plant like duckweed to use up some of those nutrients. Also, I would suggest a larger water change each week - maybe 30 - 40%.

    Amazon Sword - leaf discoloration

tanker, the substrate is shallow. I will check how deep when the lights come on. Although it grew fine in this depth for a year or so. max, I think BBA grows in little hairs, doesn't it? This is flat on the leaves. Any ideas on the holes in the new leaves? Is it just not enough to eat?

    Amazon Sword - leaf discoloration

Thank you for all the replies guys, really appreciate it. I'm thinking it is algae as some of the rocks have a similar looking 'coating' if you look carefully - just looks different on the different coloured background. I can't really scrape it off though. prober, I will have a think about what...
