im really sorry but i have ANOTHER question.

There are two varieties of GE I- one says it is for windows and doors, the other for kitchen and bath. DO NOT use the kitchen and bath type- it has a mildewcide that can poison your plants and animals. Only use GE I for Windows and Doors.

    chinese theme

I think Austin was referring to the Chinese highfin banded shark, AKA Asian sucker, Myxocyprinus asiaticus. Juveniles are pretty commonly available, but they get to be enormous (2 feet plus). I wish more coolwater East Asian fish were available; there are some very interesting species over there.

    Lava Rock?

My main concern would be the otos- they could cut up their lips while grazing algae off the lava rock. Hypertufa is a possible alternative.

I don't know if the lining protecting the paper would be watertight; you might need to seal it with polyurethane. Even then I would test a couple in a bucket for a while, to see if they hold up. I've seen (somewhere) clay pots shaped somewhat like takeout boxes. If you could get some of these...

    RO units for filtration

This is not a good plan. Fish cannot live in RO water; a hypotonic environment is just as deadly as a hypertonic one. Besides, running an RO filter on water as dirty as tank water will necessitate very frequent membrane changes; this would get expensive quickly. If you have an RO unit running...

I need HOB suggestions for 55g.

The AC 110 will take up every bit of that 4.5", but it's worth it. I'm very pleased with mine. Besides, the more media space the better.

    Driftwood hunting!!!!!!!

Red cedar driftwood is fine so long as it's weathered enough not to ooze sap anymore. I've used it in plenty of my tanks. Booyaa's driftwood is aged beyond the point of identification; driftwood in our area (I live a couple counties over) includes lots of hardwoods and red cedar, with some...

    cold water fish?

I agree with what's been said above. I will add this: if you get a large enough tank for a goldie and a school of smaller fish, then a good choice for your schooling fish would be rosy red minnows. They are a coolwater species and get considerably larger than white clouds or zebra danios, so...

    probably mussel shells

Be careful picking up mussel shells; it is illegal in some states. If your shells were fairly small (under 2") and somewhat round (rather than elongate) in shape, they were likely Asian clams, which are fine to pick up.

    Breeding live bait

Several types of terrestrial and aquatic worms can be easily grown; look up 'worm farm' to find plenty of information on cultivating earthworms. White worms and black worms can also be grown indoors. Many insects with aquatic larvae, such as mosquitos, chironomid midges (bloodworms), and...

    plants for asian biotpe

Vals are actually native to the US (Vallisneria americana) and Asia (V. asiatica), as well as Europe and South America. I think the varieties of Asian val usually offered in the US are 'contorted' or 'corkscrew' varieties similar to V. spiralis var. tortissima (which can be used as a substitute...

    Moss help/experiment!!

Some of the lower-growing Selaginella could work too; they're mossy-looking enough. Blackjungle.com has a good selection. There are several native species as well, but I haven't tried them in a vivarium.

    Driftwood hunting!!!!!!!

Nice pieces; did you get 'em all from Kentucky Lake? I bet you'll find a bunch more good stuff in a week or so, after all the stuff washed down by the last few days' rain has time to make it to shore.

    Moss help/experiment!!

Riccia doesn't grow real well terrestrially. It'll survive, but doesn't make a good carpet. I haven't tried the other two. There are a lot of streamside mosses and liverworts you could try that would probably do well.

    Moss help/experiment!!

Good luck! I've tried various wild mosses in the terrarium, with mixed results. I found a sheet-forming moss with triangular fronds that does well in semi-moist, open terraria with good air flow: you can see it in this toad picture. If I knew its name I would tell you, but bryology is...

    Name that fish!

Yeah, you're probably right. It looks kinda like a roach (Rutilus rutilus), but I don't think the jaw structure is right. My first thought was that it was a Chalceus macrolepidotus, but the scales are too small. If it is a shad, it will have plump-looking eyelids. I can't tell if those are...

    Name that fish!

In the first picture it looks as though there might be an adipose fin (small fin between dorsal and caudal). Can you confirm/deny presence of adipose fin?

    Name that fish

Looks like a big pink-tailed chalceus to me.

He's definitely a ranid. Could be a leopard, but can't rule out other species from these pics. Some more closeup shots and pic of underside would be helpful.

    Mosquito fish/Gambusia not reproducing?

Sometimes ramping up the temp by 5 or 10 degrees will induce the female to give birth.
