Why can't the fish be "Aggressive" ? Some blue acaras would be good, they are attractive and pretty bold IME. They will tolerate different tankmates too as they are pretty docile.

eventually you should raise the salinity higher than 1.005. At least 1.010 would be better as it is much more of a marine animal than freshwater.

shellies are great though, and as long as you're getting space in the 40 you can still have electric yellows, so everything works out great.

How about returning the tank and getting something that isn't as small 20-30 gallons and be able to have better options when it comes to stocking the tank.

Oscars don't need feeders in their diet. Some fish like south american leaf fish will only eat live fish.

I definitely would not add a firemouth. Like pugwash said, a peaceful SA like the keyholes or Laetacara curviceps is a better choice, although based on what you have in that tank, I would be hesitant to add more cichlids.

how big is the tank? if those firemouths pair up they will probably shred your angels

oscars are not strict piscivores in nature, so I don't think they need feeder fish at all. If you have convict fry or something that you breed then by all means use it occasionally as a treat, but otherwise it is more natural to them to eat insects and other invertebrates.

But if you have a quarantine tank, why don't you want to use it? ' a couple of days' is not enough to observe to make sure the fish isn't infected with something. If you have a quarantine tank, why risk getting your main tank infected with whatever the new fish may be carrying.
