    Rainbow Fish Pics...

A little over a year ago I got back into the hobby. The help provided on this board was very valuable. I decided to go with a Rainbow/Community tank. The following are a few shots I was able to get recently. Most of the Rainbows are just over a year old. They are coloring up very nicely. I...

My Experience with New Life Spectrum

I feed my tank full of Rainbows NLS. I almost gave up when I first tried it. They just didn't seem to be going for it. They've come around now, and go after it like blood worms. I take my time and just drop in small amounts until it's gone, then repeat several times. Their colors are...

    Rainbow Fish Community Tank Video

<P>Recently got a new digital camera that takes video. Decided to try making an aquarium video. This is the first effort. When I was deciding how to stock my tank, I watched a lot of Youtube videos of others tanks, and found it very helpful. Maybe this will help someone else out. Next try I...

Tank update and some pics (mostly rainbows)

I probably should have labeled them all. The bright yellow one is a Melanotaenia Trifasciata, commonly referred to as a banded Rainbow. This variation is called Running Creek. They are about 4.5" long, and are showing mature coloration. There are other varieties of Trifasciata, like the Goyder...

Tank update and some pics (mostly rainbows)

In January I decided to set up an aquarium again. It had been about 20 years, so I scoured this site and others for ideas and tips. I'm happy to say my 70 gallon tank has been going very, very well. The information gathered here made all the difference. It's been almost too easy. The tank is...

Rainbowfish? What kind do I have? Need rainbowfish experts :)

I agree with others that the bottom pic is probaby a glossolepis incisus. Although it could be a Glossolepis Pseudoincisus, which is called either a Tami River or Millenium Rainbow fish. If it's the Millenium, it will color up within a month or so, and stay fairly small, about 3.5". The top...

    Rethinking my 55

I've got a tank full of Rainbows and couldn't be happier. They are peaceful, colorful, don't get too big, and are always active, roaming the tank constantly. My tank is all males, and I get plenty of flashing and color displays. I had a tank of Africans years ago, and loved that tank too. The...

    Question for Hillstream Loach owners....

A couple of weeks ago I did something I rarely do, and bought a couple of Hillstream Loaches on impulse. I usually do some research first, and am very particular about what goes in my tank. The owner of my LFS store said they wouldn't eat algae, and would mostly eat anything I'm feeding my...

    Male Rainbow getting aggressive?

I wouldn't worry. I've got a whole tank full of Rainbows, and they all chase each other around from time to time, flashing, showing their colors. While it looks aggressive, I've never seen amy harm come from this. My Rainbows all have taken their turn putting on a display, and no one has ever...

    Got some new Rainbows today....

Thanks for the reply. I actually have some New Life Spectum. Maybe I need to give it more time, but usually when I feed it to them most of the pellets end up sinking to the bottom and I never seem them go after it. I'll go back to it for awhile and see if they respond, and I'll pick up some of...

    Got some new Rainbows today....

Yes, I am in in MI, and got them from Fantastic Fins in Livonia. It must have been painful for you to let them go. They are beautiful and fit it well with my other Rainbows. I would have bought more but I didn't have room with my current stock. Can you give me more detail on what you were...

    Got some new Rainbows today....

I've seen ones that look more yellow/gold. These ones are a very bright orange. I was lucky to find these, as they have the most vivid color I've seen on Boesemani's so far. I can't imagine their diet could make this much of a difference. I think they were born with it.

    Got some new Rainbows today....

Went by my LFS today, and somebody has just traded in a whole tank full of Rainbows. They were all about 1.5 years old. I brought home 2 Boesemani and 2 Running Creek. They are about 4" each, and are beautiful fish. Pic #1... The large one in the right center is one of the Running Creek. The...

    Need some advice.=)

Suction cups will work. I had a large piece of drift wood that I soaked for weeks, and it still wanted to float. I put two suction cups on the bottom and it held it just fine.
