Thought I Should Introduce my Stock

 I love my gold barbs, they were the first fish in my tank. But, I've had to deal with multiple rounds of gill flukes with them. And in a tank by themselves they're not the most interesting fish I've ever seen... they're a great more peaceful school to complement the Tigers though.

I'd skip the gourami but otherwise it sounds good :)

Thought I Should Introduce my Stock

Thanks! Both schools are still juvies... so watching them gain adult coloration has been exciting so far. Still not there yet ;)

Thought I Should Introduce my Stock

Hello all, I've been posting for a little while but never really showed off my fish... So I hope you like these pics. Now to choose which to post... :grinyes: My camera skills aren't the greatest so quality is inconsistent... just a disclaimer :) Hmm... maybe you'd like to see my Clithion...

    Some of my Planted Ripariums

Hello Hydrophyte, My ex-girlfriend is fairly sure I left her for you. I am planning to start my riparium next year. Please fill my empty life with your ripariums. Sincerely, Tanked ;)

starting completely over with a 55 gallon tank.

Tiger Barbs shouldn't bother your plants. You could put another school of barbs (like Gold or Snakeskin Barbs) or, if you keep the Tiger Barbs in a group of 7+ you should be able to keep them with nearly anything that doesn't have long fins, or move exceptionally slowly. Tetras (the "nippier"...

    Vacation Photoperiod/Ferts

So for 5 days vacation, do this? Day before: 1 dose KNO3 KH2PO4, 1 dose CSM+B Vacation: 4 hr lighting periods? Or this? Day before: 2 dose KNO3 KH2PO4, 2 dose CSM+B Plus 4 hour lighting? Thanks for the advice.

    Vacation Photoperiod/Ferts

I will be leaving my tank unattended for 5 days. I normally dose EI (I have dried powder ferts) but I have fairly light dosage as my tank is 30g, 39w T5HO. So, should I throw in 5 day's worth of ferts and set a timer to light my tank as normal? Or should I leave the tank, and set the light...

movng wood from brackish to fresh question

If you have a hygrometer or refractometer just move it and test... Water change if needed... and you're good :) Unless it makes Specific Gravity rise after multiple water changes, I wouldn't worry about it.

Could I stop quarantining my corys early?

Well I surely wish you success with your new pygmy cories :D They are really cool tiny little guys. Cories are probably the only fish I'd consider in my current tank aside from barbs. And since you added them to the tank what I am about to say is a moot point  but FYI, my Gold Barbs showed...

    What should I do!?!?

Gotta represent the Barbs... in a 30 you could keep two schools of good size (I would suggest Golds and Odessas, or Golds and Tigers). You could also do some of the more "off" barbs. They're not as aggressive as cichlids, but they're active, some (like Tigers) school very well, and are mostly...

    Snails

No chemicals, no fuss, no problems: check out my buddy's DIY pond snail trap, easy to make in 20 minutes with materials you probably have. http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f20/diy-pond-snail-trap-126550.html I may find myself posting that link a lot

    White dots on barbs?

Spot on :D Then just repeat that... add 5 gal with 10 tsp 5 times or so (cuz the math gets more complicated once you are adding to an unsalted tank, diluting the mixture, and then taking from that diluted mixture... 5 times is a good call) with at least 4 hours inbetween. This will get you...

    White dots on barbs?

Yes, temperature alone can kill ich, but temperature + salt will do a lot better (especially because it sounds like the disease is in an advanced state, since it already killed a few fish). As posted earlier you can add 2 tsp per gallon, or if you buy actual aquarium salt, follow the...

    White dots on barbs?

I would suggest raising the temp up to 86. I used 86 Fahrenheit water with no salt and within 2 days all white spots were gone. I kept the temperature up for another week and then back to normal, and no more ich :D Using salt is just going to make it more effective, so I would say your odds are...

    15-gallon Riparium

You have inspired me to start a riparium next year :) Now here's the big question... do I make my 10gal a riparium, or upgrade to a 75gal and use my 30gal for the riparium? Something tells me the second option :) By the way, that geo is gorgeous.
