:lol: I love my gold barbs, they were the first fish in my tank. But, I've had to deal with multiple rounds of gill flukes with them. And in a tank by themselves they're not the most interesting fish I've ever seen... they're a great more peaceful school to complement the Tigers though.

Tiger Barbs shouldn't bother your plants. You could put another school of barbs (like Gold or Snakeskin Barbs) or, if you keep the Tiger Barbs in a group of 7+ you should be able to keep them with nearly anything that doesn't have long fins, or move exceptionally slowly. Tetras (the "nippier"...

If you have a hygrometer or refractometer just move it and test... Water change if needed... and you're good :) Unless it makes Specific Gravity rise after multiple water changes, I wouldn't worry about it.

I would suggest raising the temp up to 86. I used 86 Fahrenheit water with no salt and within 2 days all white spots were gone. I kept the temperature up for another week and then back to normal, and no more ich :D Using salt is just going to make it more effective, so I would say your odds are...
