Vacation Photoperiod/Ferts

I will be leaving my tank unattended for 5 days. I normally dose EI (I have dried powder ferts) but I have fairly light dosage as my tank is 30g, 39w T5HO.

So, should I throw in 5 day's worth of ferts and set a timer to light my tank as normal?

Or should I leave the tank, and set the light for a couple hours a day so my plants don't die?

Or something inbetween?

Advice appreciated as I am leaving for vacation tomorrow :dance2: Unfortunately nobody will be able to feed, dose, perform water changes, or manually adjust the lights.

I usually slightly overdose my ferts (2 days worth of dosing) before i leave. I then adjust my lighting down to 4 hours/day.

I wouldn't dose a full weeks ferts, just maybe and extra dose, and have fewer hours of lighting. if you dose for an entire week extra at once, you risk coming home to a massive algae bloom

Day before: 1 dose KNO3 KH2PO4, 1 dose CSM+B
Vacation: 4 hr lighting periods?

Or this?

Day before: 2 dose KNO3 KH2PO4, 2 dose CSM+B
Plus 4 hour lighting?

I agree.
Besides, your plants aren't going to show signs of deficiency from a lack of a few days of fert dosing. They'll be fine.

I agree, five days isn't a huge deal.

i agree also... no big deal for 5 days.

if you were dosing pps pro you could dose a bit more but with ei there should be no need.
