    How much is tank worth?

Hmmm.....sounds to me like an unusual or maybe a custom tank. It sounds like an interesting and rare tank! It may be worth more! I think $750 sounds really good for the tank. Not too much, but you get paid for the effort!

    Gasping fish!

I agree with OG. You may also have tap water that is depleted of Oxygen (more than normal) and you may have added some higher temp water (?). Anyways, I'd definately work on getting some surface agitation with some bubbles. If your water level is high (above the outlets of the filters) you can...

    Gasping for air, wah

I hate to say it, but you really are kidding yourself with that Hagen CO2 system. It won't produce nearly enough CO2 to make a difference in your tank. I have 2 operating on my 20 gallon (with an active reactor!!! and powerhead) and max out at around 30ppm CO2 (perfect :) ) The main thing you...

    Gasping fish!

Sorry to hear about your dilema. :( First, I'd like to ask you if you have any air pumps going in this tank? Do you have live plants? Can you give the size of your tank, exact filters (best of your ability), and temp of tank. Is your water warmer than usual? Also did you do the water change...

    Convict acting freaky!!!

I have a Jellybean Cichlid (mix of Blood Parrot and Convict) which turned out to be female and lays eggs every three weeks almost like clockwork! She is completely alone in a 10 gallon aquarium and has laid many, many times. She finally ends up eating them toward the end of the week as they rot...

    How much is tank worth?

Well I'm using my LFS as a pricing guide. A drilled 125 costs right at about $550 for tank alone!

Did I just cook away my beneficial bateria?

Agree with them. I'd take it apart, clean, FIX WIRE PROBLEM, and start over with a fresh filter. Shouldn't be major deal in your tank. BTW, thanks for sharing your experience with the thermofilter canisters. I think that could be a real problem in power-outs. If your wires are your problem...

    New updated pics

Great tanks and fish. Just to give some input, I believe the plant you don't know the name to in the picture called "plants and otto" is either a Bacopa rotundifolia or Bacopa monnieri (aka Baby Tears). Also, the pic called "Apon and ?", I think that other plant is possibly Blyxa japonica...

    How much is tank worth?

I've never heard of those dimensions either. You wanna double check those measurements and verify if they are right? 600 Dollars for a 200 gallon is very nice deal. You may be able to get more like 750, but it's hard to find people with that kind of cash just laying around:(

    Walmart Tanks?

Thanks for the idea, nvision. I think I'll give the razor blade a try. What have I got to lose?.......except maybe a thumb!:p

Easy Ich Cure, Turn Up The Heat !

I think 90 degrees is way excessive!!! I raise mine to about 82 for most fish. If I had discus in 85 degree water, I might raise it to 87 or 88, but 90 is just crazy, IMO! This cannot be healthy for extended periods for almost any fish. Slowly start lowering the temp now. Don't drop it...

wtf is wrong with my emperor!

Any HOB filter does that. Another thing is make sure the flow adjuster is in the "high flow" position (fully up). This will allow maximum water flow. I noticed my EMP won't run with the flow control completely closed (directions say it's supposed to be able to run with only flow going to the...

    Walmart Tanks?

Go for the Walmart 55, but get good quality tanks if you go any higher. 55's just aren't that big of an investment (I know this is all relative, but they are pretty cheap and tanks any larger start getting pretty pricey!

    Walmart Tanks?

Yes, Gutterguppy, I'm supprised nobody else noticed my mistake....Regent is subsidiary of Marineland, not Hagen! I have the Nutrafin (Hagen) CO2 system on my brain right now.....my mistake. That is why I said they are the same as Penguin (also Marineland) cause they are almost exactly the same...

    Dither Fish Sujestions?

    Walmart Tanks?

I have bought a 10 gallon (package)tank from Walmart for about $30. It seems to be about the same quality as My 55 gallon that I bought from PetsMart ($99). 10 gallons are now selling with hood/light for $25, or without hood/light for $8.99 at PetsMart. I personally found both my 10 gallon...

what planted tank do you like?

I voted for visible substrate, but I want to be clear that I only want a few visible spots. I like to see the contrast, but plants should cover the majority of the bottom.

    Flame me now

With all that being said, I'd suggest you buy an electronic pH monitor and buy a simple KH/GH test kit. Get your CO2 system set up and start testing (start slowly) at least every couple of days for 2 weeks or so. Since you don't want to test your tank (you need to do pH at least bi-weekly or so...
