    New 25 gal. tank

I agree most plecos get too large for a 25 gallon. Why not look into an upside down cat, they stay smaller and have the same "look" more or less. Also, Silver Dollars need alot more room than a 25g. They actually get suprisingly big.

    Muskellunge in 250g

A note to everyone involved in the post and anyone who ever reads it- Since the muskie is apparently very adaptable, please, please, please- for the sake of my few weekends in the country, don't dump them in any trout ponds...

Israel will attack Iran 'only as last resort'

Whoa, let's slow this train down for a second.... Most muslims, even inside Iran, are not jumping on the wagon to go out and kill infidels. They are just people like you and me, trying to make their way through life happily. Still the best comparison I have ever heard came from the West Wing-...

    Ok tanks setup now

No offense, but why did you bother posting then? For a community pat on the back or group hug? You asked what everyone thought, we replied. But hey feel free to rationalize it however you choose.

    Wisteria

Bully all that. Also, once they start growing, it is really beneficial to trim off the dead, brown section that occasionally crop up. If you don't, they'll break off and start to throw off roots from their upper foliage.

    is my tank overstocked?

I agree with everything Harlock said, but would add... You can rule out Rams. Once your pleco starts getting towards its 18 to 36" growth capacity, it is going to be a battle keeping the water quality at a level that Rams would be happy with. (IMO, and assuming that it is a Common Pleco)...

    is my tank overstocked?

I'm assuming that this is a 10g as well? If it is, you couldn't possibly fit another thing in it, and should probably start moving stuff out ASAP.

    Ok tanks setup now

Yeah, the Knife is a bad idea. You are aware that they will get to be over half the length of the 65? You can definitely get some large, interesting fish for a 65. A single Oscar or maybe a pair of Dempseys would work wonderfully in a 65, IMO. I agree, I think you should do some more...

    Going on vacation

I have the Hagen/Nutra-fin pro-feeds for my tanks. They work well, are programable for two feedings a day, have feeding adjustment capabilities and will run you between $40 and $60. While they definitely aren't cheap, their woth it, IMO. Definitely avoid the white, time release feeder blocks...

What size was your first tank?

Mine was approx 5 gallons, though I never checked the exact volume (I was like 9). It was a single piece glass thing, sort of like a cube garden, but quite old and really not so transparent. I kept locally caught minnows and salamanders in it. At one point, i actually threw in some plants plants...

    good tank mates

I agree a Bala and RTBS wouldn't be fast friends. More importantly, the Bala isn't suited for a 65g. At full maturity, they grow to be well over a foot long. Most people don't recommend that they be kept in a tank under 150 gallons. Balas really like to swim as well, so at a foot long, anything...

    what plant is this?

I agree with KoG, it is more than likely riccia. There is strikingly similar tank in Nature Aquarium World Vol.1 (the same one?), that according to Amano's lists, is Riccia. Also, there is what appears to be Dwarf Sag or a similar dwarf, running sword mixed in the carpet as well (the somewhat...

    Muskellunge in 250g

Jonathan is right, there are serious issues with simply releasing a muskie into any pond. These guys don't live just anywhere, they require a very specific biotope. In fact, I'd wager that the majority of the waters in NC aren't equipped to handle them. While it is a pale comparison in terms of...

    Muskellunge in 250g

I agree with illiswiller, muskies get way too big for any common size tank, so unless you have an empty 1200 gallon lying around, I'd nix the idea. Personally, I don't even think they'd be happy in a tank that size. Also, they prefer vegatation and submerged logs to hide amongst in the wild...

    Another cycle ?!?

What you have is a mini-cycle, it shouldn't take to long to resolve itself. These sometimes happen when you make changes to your tank, especially in newer tanks. In all likelihood it was probably a combination of adding fish and removing gravel which teed it off. Just do water changes to keep...

    Tetra-Cory Combo

As far as your concerns about the CO2 are concerned, as long as you have a pH test kit and a KH test kit, you can avoid poisoning your fish with too much CO2, here's a handy calculator that will tell you the number of ppm of CO2 in your water using pH and KH...

    ph down not working

I noticed in your other post that you mentioned you are having a cloudy water issue as well. It might be beneficial to discontinue using pH down, as these type of products typically contain some form of phosphoruos, which is a favorite food of the algae and bacteria that cause cloudy water...

    Cichlids with other community fish

Amen, mooman, more dwarves. I would, however, check really carefully about Knives with dwarves, as knives love smaller fish. You could also look into Jurupari Earth Eaters. I've heard they do well with knives and aren't exceptionally aggressive.

    Cichlids with other community fish

Actually no, they won't work. Most African cichlids need opposite water conditions (africans need hard, alkaline water, Angels and South Americans need soft, acidic water) from all of the other fish you are discussing (for the record, angelfish are actually South American cichlids)...

2.5" tiger oscar mix well with 6- 2" tiger barbs?

Personally, I would suggest you take the oscar back or move him to a larger tank if you have one. You need at least a 50 gallon for an oscar, if not larger. Eventually, he won't even be able to turn around comfortably in a 29g. Also, while he is definitely still a baby, you really risk killing...
