    betta problem

They can flare their gills too. Infact, that's a typical breeding motion. Don't be worried, you just have a heathly betta.

    Incandesent vs. Iridescent

Is there a major difference between these bulb types? I'm either going to buy or build a hood for the 10gal I got yesterday but I'm unsure of what kind of lighting I can use. If I buy a hood I'm limited in wattage because of the plastic (warpage due to heat = :() but if I make one I can do one...

    Bettas......

How much did the white platinum cost you? I've always wanted one, but I'm gonna wait until I have a cycled tank, experience enough not to butcher the caring of the fish, and money enough to not go broke from the purchase

    Stowaway identification

This little guy snuck into the net today along with two of my new mystery snails. I can't say I blame him, Walmart is no place I'd want to live, but I'd like to know what species he is. He's sociable (ignores the snails, frogs, and betta) is pretty, you should see him catch the light, and seems...

    Snail Requirements

I think a 20g would be the minimum for that snail if you want to reduce the number of break outs, but if it's by itself the 10g should be adequate.

    Upgreading a betta tank

The 10gal wil definatly result in a better looking tank, happier fish, and a much easier to maintain environment. You can also keep a nice color array inside it aswell. I'm setting up a 10gal tank tomorrow for my betta and plan to keep 3 mollies, 3 cory cats, a mystery snail, and two ADFs...

    I'm angry - Lumpy's story

Higher water temperatures are best for bettas. You'll see brighter colors and personality in the 74-76 range.

    No, it's not a dye, it's antibacterial. Semi-attempt at human (¬¬) conditions.

    Cleaning Silk Plants

Take em out nand scrub them, that or get a alge eating fish like a SAE or some cory's.

    I'm angry - Lumpy's story

The blue water is actually an anti-baterial named methylene blue (that right?). I guess it has the "pretty effect" but it's really just there to keep the fish alive longer. I'm suprised and appaled by the store contour bought from, their fish don't even get the pretense of care.

    I'm angry - Lumpy's story

You should post pictures of him when he's happy and healthy again, I suspect you'll have a very pretty betta on your hands then :)

Had to euthanize Pacu's over the weekend

I saw two full grown pacu's packed into what must have been 29g - 35g at the most today at PetCo. Poor guys :(

    Bad idea...

Okay, so since the lowest price I could find on a 5g-hex kit was $50 I've decided to setup another 10g. My plan is this: Take the betta and put him in the new 10g with the ADF's I bought today, a mystery snail, two of my danio (Long fins), and buy four tetra's to put in with him and another...

    Gouramis?

I have a fire in my tank. He eats food if he sees it, regardless if it's touched the bottom or not. I also think the dwarf fires are prettier than the neon/rainbow.
