    Tiny red worms!

I got my levamisole and have treated my tank. Unfortunately, I have lost several fish. I hope this takes care of it and I do not lose any more!

    Tiny red worms!

Well, I have lost multiple fish due to the Camallanus worms now. A couple more look pretty sickly, too. Everyone else seems to be doing well with the treatments so far. I will be glad when the levamisole gets here, however!

    Tiny red worms!

Without them, I may not have ever noticed the Camallanus worms. The parasites are thicker bodied than the ones that were in my baby snail tank. That still doesn’t help me know why the baby snails have been dying, though. I wish I knew why I am having so many problems! My water is basically...

    Tiny red worms!

I actually looked up dero digitata and they do look like what I found in my snail tank. I am now thinking that they led me to discover a parasite, as well. I think there are 2 worms in my tank!

    Tiny red worms!

I do not believe they are harmless. I can see the worms coming out of my fish now that I know what I am looking for. I am certain they are Camallanus worms. These just happened to make their way into my baby snail breeder box. I am down to only 10 or 12 baby snails from that clutch. I do not...

    Tiny red worms!

So, I am pretty sure that my fish have Camallanus worms. I have lost a fish here and there that looked like it quit eating and got really thin. I treated for parasites when that happened, but had no idea if that was the right treatment. I have not had any problems for quite some time now. I have...

    Tiny red worms!

Also, I have seen a few tiny gnats/flying insects around my tank. Maybe these are the larvae of them. I have no idea what kind they are, however.

    Tiny red worms!

I am not sure why it put my images in the middle of the text. Sorry!

    Tiny red worms!

I hatched out some mystery snails several weeks ago. I started noticing that they were dying 2-3 weeks or so ago. I only have a few left alive from that clutch. Anyway, their breeder box had gotten really covered with brown and green algae so I decided to clean it...especially since only a few...

    Nitrate Nightmare

Thank you, frugal aquarist, for all your help! I really appreciate it! I will look into getting the plants you recommend. I am not sure about the second one as I have cats and I have to keep the tank lid closed when I am not home, but at least the first one. I will also change the way I am...

    Nitrate Nightmare

I just tested my tap water and it has less than 5ppm. I wish it had 0, but no such luck.

    Nitrate Nightmare

Thank you for your input. I will try some of your suggestions. I originally put the sponges on my filter intake because I have baby shrimp and I was afraid that they would just get sucked up by the filter. I think I may remove the sponges on the smaller filter as the intake holes are not as big...

    Nitrate Nightmare

No, I have not. I will do that in a few minutes.

    Nitrate Nightmare

I can do more water changes. I started doing 2 large changes per week this week but will increase it to 3. And yes, I have live plants. I even added more in hopes that would help. I will say, the Nitrates were much higher and I have gotten them down some...just not enough!

    Nitrate Nightmare

I am having some nitrate issues in my 60 gallon tank. I probably have about 35 adult live bearers, 8 mystery snails, 2 nerite snails, 2 clown loaches, 2 Cory cats, some shrimp, some fry and baby snails. I have live plants and 2 filters that are up to 100 gallon filters. All other values are...

    Question About Incubating Mystery Snails

At this point, I do not have any more eggs. Hopefully, it will be a bit before I get more. I am amazed at the colors and patterns on these guys! I have purple, ivory, and gold. I also have lots of speckled babies. They are so cute!

    Question About Incubating Mystery Snails

Clutch #3 was amazing! I am so excited to see these little ones grow! It took about 11 days before they started looking “moldy.” I was afraid it was another infertile or almost infertile clutch. I am so glad it wasn’t!

    Question About Incubating Mystery Snails

These are my first babies so I am super excited! I look forward to watching them grow!

    Question About Incubating Mystery Snails

My second clutch was mostly infertile but there are at least 6 viable snail babies! I will be watching for more to move around throughout the day! I also woke up to a HUGE (at least compared to my other 2) egg sack this morning. Hopefully, it will be completely fertile!

    Question About Incubating Mystery Snails

Well, the first clutch was not fertile. The second clutch is at day 8 and it may have some fertile eggs in it. It is starting to get white looking in spots. We will just have to see, I guess.
