No - you have it correct. CL = Closed Loop. And yes, I've been turning it on/off on some sort of cycle for close to 3 years now, but no more frequently than the last 6 months. Regardless, the pump is as quiet and efficient as ever. I guess the effect of my CL cycling once every 46 seconds...

Bump/update - currently (for past ~ 8 months) running a one minute cycle of 14 secs on, 46 off. The increased, particularly with respect to frequency, mild-moderate water agitation appears to benefit all. :thm:

If you are breaking down your system, I have heard the best way to completely eradicate all Aptasia and Majano Anemones is to boil all your LR. It is extreme but successful.

So to fill my 30 gal drum to support my monthly water change (230 gal DT with 125 sump (partially filled so more like 75 gal) it will take at least 3 other 55 gallon drums of waste water. When I look at it this way it really bothers me. Or, can I recycle the waste water through again and again...
