    CORALINE ALGE

Did you happen to add/upgrade your lighting? Or maybe switched salts or slacked up on water changes? Maybe added an urchin? Oh, and quit yelling, I have a hang over.

    A marine article of mine.

Sweet and Congratulations. Once it is published it will be yours again and you should be able to put it back up. It is always nice to know that you are getting something put in print.

    Which Angel

I like the flame. Have had good luck with them in the past. I understand dwarf angels to be polyp nippers but I have never had that problem. I always try to feed a variety of foods and feed fish daily so this may help to keep them from becoming polyps nippers. I would only start out with the...

    Curing a run down tank

Just keep it simple for best results. Do water changes with a good brand of salt every week about 20% and keep the tank stable. Corals and fish can adapt but they need stability. Might take a month but with stable conditions they will come back. There are a few additives yo can use that will...

    Refugium in an HOB Filter

I have gotten a couple of the submersible white LEDs from here and they work great. http://stores.shop.ebay.com/MeasureExplorer__W0QQ_armrsZ1 I used them in a Biocube when I had chaeto in one of the back chambers. Grew really well when I had it setup. I go them probably a year and half ago and...

    Zoas anyone?

From what I understand they are a deepwater paly from the Gulf of Mexico found around 100+ feet. Just what I understand. Once they acclimate they do well. Have to feed them meaty morsels.

I was moving my rock around and noticed one of the paddle like appendages had come off of mine also. It seems to be doing fine. Will take some time but it will grow back. It is used to flip stars over but can do just fine with one.

    Its so HOT!

run you tank at 80F for a normal temp and the higher will not be so much of a stress. 82 is not unheard of to run a reef, but you have to keep the organic load much lower than you would for a cooler tank.

    Zoas anyone?

The second ones are Sunny Ds. I just took the pic day I posted. Never been on NR (what is that?) The 5th ones are called Grandis palys, something like that. They are huge. Got them as an extra from someone selling out all his corals. I have never seen them in person before. THe picture does not...

Be sure to use the iodide according to directions and it would not hurt to use a bit less if you do not have many softies/inverts. That is a small fella. I am fortunate in that one of the LRS gets the chips in pretty steady and there is usually small ones I can pick out. Just keep an eye on the...

    Harlequin Shrimp Detailed Article

I think they are not reef safe because they can eat corals. They will stay alive and not rot during the whole time it is being eaten. The shrimp will eat all the legs keeping it alive then eat the rest of it before it has time to rot. The shrimp eats the stars in a way that keeps them alive for...

I never had any luck with the shrimp eating the astrenia either. I think they are more chocolate chip eaters. When I place a chip in the shrimp flips it over and holds onto it until it has finished it off. Depending on the size of the chip it can take a week to eat it all. I didn't't much care...

lighting help, plants not doing so well

No expert here with live plants myself and have steered away from them because I have always been led to believe that you would only get lush growth with some sort of CO2 injection, along with proper lighting and nutrients. Maybe someone with experience in plants will chime in.

I am no expert with these but I do add iodine for inverts according to the directions of the iodine I use. I use only products that are made for reef tanks bought in either reef shops of from online dealers that deal in reef supplies. I feed mine a chip a week on average and it pretty much will...

    Bad purchase

I agree, both ebay and paypal are great for investigating and finding for the party that has been scammed. Those that are scammed and do not file/follow through with a complaint...are the losers.

    Harlequin Shrimp Detailed Article

They seem to be pretty peaceful characters and as long as they have a starfish (chocolate is their fav) they pretty much just stay attached to it somewhere in the tank. When they are without a star they will soon learn where the next is coming from. When mine goes for a few days without a...

    Harlequin Shrimp Detailed Article

Mine is the favorite of my tank. IT eats a chip a week. Measures almost 3" in length. Thanks for the article. I add iodine daily and this is one of the successes in its survival and growth.
