i have an extra 1.5g tank that i'm not using. is there anything of interest that could comfortably live in a tank that small, other than a single fish i guess?
if there is anything interesting i will buy any extras that are needed.

Snails, shrimp, a betta. That's about it I think...

i wouldnt put a betta in a tank that small

i'd go with any of the red shrimp varieties, as their colours will make them more visible when you are watching shrimpy tv, lol. i had green shrimp once in a planted tank and i had to chaff my retinas on the tank glass to spot any of them all the time.

i've never had small tanks with shrimp, so i can't give advice based on personal experience there, sorry. but shrimp do have a low bioload so you could probably have at least a half dozen (being uber conservative here! lol). hopefully the keepers of the itty bitty shrimp tanks will chime in soon.

try red nose shrimp / Pinocchio shrimp

i find them interesting since they got long noses, but i believe they do not breed successfully in fresh water so you could turn it into a brackish tank if you want (but then i don't know how well rcs will fare if you want two types).
