You have 2 6 inch goldfish in a 2 gallon tank? That seems rather hard to picture but if it is true then I would highly suggest seeing if a fish store will take those off of your hand. That is rather cruel to keep them in something so small.

Agreed. That is rediculous, even somebody who never kept fish before would know that a few 6" goldfish do not fit into a 2 gallon tank. If you are serious, do as TKOS suggested.

6 in fish

well i'm guessing 2 gallons. and looking at a ruler their deffintaly not 6 inches but i was measuring with my fingers. Messing with turtles? That whoe newlte thing? No that wasent me. But my tank looks ten gallon and i have to wait till i get home cause i'm at shcool but i'll take a ruller and put it up against the tank to see how long and wide it is then i'll try to get the fish sizes. But they have room to move and stuff. so its not way too small.

Goldfish should be able to attain a size of 18 inches depending on the species. That requires a tank that is a minimum of 55 gallons. So anything under that is small. A 20-30 gallon is a good starter tank for goldfish. If you think that they can do well in less then I am sorry but they can't and are being stunted which will lead to a short life that isn't nice. Goldfish are fast swimmers and just because they can move doesn't mean they are content or healthy.

ok the gold fish are 3 1/2 inches.
the tank is 101/2 inches long and 5 inches wide and 9 inches tall.
ok so i'm making some money quick. I can get the tank probably next weekend. I never knew that my fish were being mistreated untill i started looking up african dwarf frog care sheets. I still have ALOT to learn. My frogs seem ok. Should i put my fish in with my forgs and shrimps? In a ten gallon tank? How would i measure amonia and what are ways to keep it down?

it's 10 and a half of an inch. The 10 gallon starter kit tank costs 32.94. I dont think i need a heater becuase my tempatures are 71-80 in my room and i cant mention how how it will get in the summer. Theres no night. so I DEFFIENTLY hjave to keep them away from the window.I got 28 right now so i need 5 more dollars? yesh ok buye

Ok that isent a 10g tank. Its more like a 2g but Im no sure. If someone could enter the size of the tank into the site the will give us that info, thayt would be good. (I lost the link)

Now lets take money. Fish keeping isent cheep at all. Just for my 3 small tanks I have spent over $1000. Half of which isent really need so $500. (The extra was for top of the line equipment). Anyone will tell you this. Keeping fish in anything under a 10g is just wrong and should never be done. Id say you a) give up fish keeping and find something cheeper OR b)make some money and research fish keeping.

Jeez....Why not just beat the poor kids dreams into the mud.....I thought that we were here to help? She is looking for help! How many of us have done something to fish that we did not know was wrong?

Keeping fish CAN be expensive. My 55 gal. tank cost me $50. Came with all equipment, and like 100 Lbs of gravel. If you are on a limited budget, buy used. Makes things sooooooo much cheaper! My 20 L that I am setting up has cost me just over $200 so far, and I have not bought most of the equipment yet.

Back to the topic!
A 10 gal. tank will work for a while with the goldfish. I would think that the ADF, and shrimp would be ok in there also. However, if you would like to keep using the hex. tank, you could put the shrimp in there all by themselves. Most shrimp will show off more, and be less stressed when there are no predators around. I think that you would enjoy the shrimp better if they had their own tank(this coming from a person who is setting up a 20 L tank for shrimp...). I would also check your local papers and such, ask around, look for used tanks/equipment. It is definately cheaper. Who knows, you may find someone who is willing to give their stuff away. Free stuff is always cool! :dance

I got to buy the tank by my self and my mom will take care of buying food.
I'll show you pictures of my once tortured pets. (not hobbies!!)
Except my gold fish are still being tortured untill next weekend.
