Hi all. Lost my first fish today. I have a 10 gallon tank. Currently has 3 female adult guppies, 1 male guppies and 5 fry that are like days old and surviving. As well still have 1 Cory( had 2) Water levels seem fine. ph 7.1 ammonia .1 (trace) nitrite .25 nitrate 0 and levels have always remained around that. Started my cycle with Bio spiro. Tank is about 6 weeks old. For water treatment I have been using Amquel +.
Fished the dead cory out,no white spots, looks normal, except for the no movement part. All other fish "seem" healthy and the other Cory is moving abouty fine. Imjust wondering if maybe they are not getting enough food?? I feed the fish twice a day with flakes. And the guppies gobble that up quickly. I had boughten these pellets (wafers) for the cory's but they dont seem too interested in them, and once the guppies see them, they eat them!! **** guppies, lol Any suggestions would be great. thanks Scott

I've read that corys don't tolerate ammonia and nitrite at all. they should be put in a tank when it is completely cycled.

Your nitrites should be 0 . It doesnt sound like your tank is cycled, or maybe it was but it got unbalanced at some point (maybe the fry). I would do water changes daily if required, to keep the nitrites at 0. If you can, get another packet of bio-spira and toss it in there.

i cycled my tank with four cories in it. They are the only ones who haven't given me a problem. I don't feel they are that sensitive to ammonia and nitrite.

Most fish are quite sensitive to water conditions. Including cories.
Some cories are hardier than others, especially larger ones.
Considering your water conditions, I'm going to say thats why it has died.

My suggestion:
Do a water change immediately.

The dead cory been in the tank for a while?
Could not possibly be that the cory was introduced in a bad way?

Thanks for the help

Ihave had the Cory for a month. I have been doing a fair amount of water changes and keep an eye on the levels. Thanks
