I purchased my first live plants June 12th 2010 and put them in a 10 gal tank with 3 guppy's.

Java moss
Java fern
Anubias
Flame moss
Hygrophila polysperma
Duckweed
Riccia

Lighting is two 15 watt GE 6500K bulbs, 900 lumens (the kind found around the house) suspended above the tank (roughly 10 inches) on for 8 hours per day.

Running a simple sponge filter and doing 25% water changes once a week.

I did a quick first setup for about a month shown in the first picture. It was recently changed August 8, 2010 shown in the second picture. It was a divided grow out tank that's why there are the blue things glued to the front of the glass.

This is a test to see how well I can grow the plants, I hope to eventually grow out the plants some and move them into my 55 gallon tank down the road sometime...I will be looking for advice, suggestions, help with the process...Thanks

Lol, I just read your 10g journal on TPT today! I like the darker gravel & how you've angled the wood. Perhaps a black background? Would go nicely with the gravel, making the green of your plants pop. I have the same lights, only mine sits on the hood (want to diy glass top sometime).

Seeing your hygro makes me think Plague's mystery plant is also hygro polysperma...

I feel I should let you know that Hygrophila polysperma is illegal in the U.S.A. Not sure if you live in the U.S. but I thought I should mention it.

I think it's illegal to ship across state lines, not illegal to keep. Not entirly sure though.

I did some research and it seems as though the laws regarding hygro polysperma varies from state to state even though it is on the federal noxious weeds list.

For example it is illegal to sell, trade, transfer, etc. Hygro polysperma in MA.
