10 Gal Low Tech - Journal

I have always been under the impression it is illegal to keep, but back on topic those plants should do fine except the Riccia which I believe you will need more light for.

I believe the riccia is floating, in which case it's got enough light. I'm growing riccia well floating with 13w cfl.

Hey

To answer all of your questions:

Yes it is flame moss on the plastic mesh...(very slow growing so far)

I am from Canada (eh) so the polysperma shouldn't be illegal...

and lastly my tiny bit of Riccia is floating, but not growing much as I believe it is being drowned out by the duckweed.

It took my flame moss a good 4 months to fill in fully (it looks like you cut yours, mine was just kinda laid down & tied to wood). Mine is about 2.5" tall now.

No I have yet to trim anything in my tank yet...thats one of my concerns...

although, the main concern right now is with my browning leaves on my java fern, and almost complete lack of growth of java moss...

ps. thanks for all the posts fishycat

I've realized moss does not like to be rushed or watched (unless you're doing co2), and when you aren't looking it'll shoot out a bunch of growth, just give it time. My java ferns always get black/ugly, although the baby plants look perfect!

Wanted to show you my flame moss :D

It's blocking my crypts! :swear: But I love it. I also wedged in stragglers into my other piece of wood and *poof* it grew in all nice & thick.

Nope, just black Tahitian Moon Sand. I use flourish root tabs for my crypts. :D

Are you dosing anything? I used flourish comprehensive and excel with good results... Been too lazy lately. :p:

yes as of maybe 2 weeks ago I started adding 3 or 4 drops of liquid Seachem ferts, in hopes of improving growth rates and getting my java moss and fern to actually grow as the fern seems to be browning and dying off or something...it has me a little concerned

I will get some pictures up for some help in a bit
