I just started a 10 gallon tank with 2 angel fish. I never really have had fish before. What if anny would be good tank mates with the angle fish?

A 10 gallon tank is way to small for angel fish. IF you want to keep them, upgrade to a 30+ gallon tank. Other wise try and give them back to your lfs and buy somehitng else. Like maybe a shool of neon tetras and some corydoras

Agree with Andy. Be up-front with your LFS, I doubt you were because they should not have sold you those fish... if they did knowing you only had a 10g, return them, eat your potential return-loss, and never go there again.

3 Tetra would work fine, maybe a German Ram?? (kinda pushing it in a 10g, but if it's the only cichlid I can't see the harm)

In my 10 gallon I have 5 white cloud mountain minnows and 3 cory catfish. You should look at something similar in terms of fish size.

Angels get really too big for such a tank. A single angel can go in a 20 gallon tank. It is hard to see right now because they are so small when you buy them but they will grow and it is really unfair to them to grow up in a cramped tank.

I must agree with the others here...return the angels or buy them a bigger tank. I have a single male angelfish in my 55gal that is as big as my hand and I wouldn't think of keeping him in anything less than the tank he is currently in. I do have a 10gal tank as well; and in it are 10 glowlight tetras.

Thank you for the advice. I wil return them. Could I have a few suggestions for the tank then. I really have know Idea on what fish should be in a 10g tank. Thanks in advance.

Dwarf Gouramis, Dwarf Cichlids(Rams, Apistos), small Tetras(Neons, Glolights), Danios(Zebras, Leopard), small Barbs(Cherry), Guppies, rasboras, Corydoras cats, Otos, Amano shrimp, Bettas, Killie fishes, Dwarf Puffers.

Honestly I wouldn't put Apistos or Rams into a 10 gallon. Truly the only one for the job would have to be Kribensis... I would try a Krib, and perhaps 5 or 6 tetras

What are you leaning towards? There's tons of neat fish that you could thrive in your 10g. I second the white clouds, but there are lotsa other neat small schooling fish. Killis have colours that are out of this world. Dwarf gouramies are very personable as are bettas and kribs (just one of any of those). You could also do a cool tank with dwarf frogs or crabs. The small livebearers like platies, guppies, or Endler's are also fun, especially when they have babies.

If you peruse the fish profiles here or snag some books from the library (most public libraries have at least Exotic Aquarium Fishes by Innes).

If you want lots of colour then go with platies. They will breed quickly though but are a fun hardy fish and are cheap. There are lots of great tetras that would be great in a school.

Put 3 cory catfish or 3 khulie loaches on the bottom to help keep things clean (remember to get sinking food tablets though to suppliment their diet).

In a 10 I would personaly (and do) stick with 2 types of fish. A bottom feeder and a small school. Too many different kinds of fish will look confusing and silly in a smaller tank IMO.:)
