10 gal to 20 gal safe "switcheroo" possible?

i find them in my filter all the time.

What do you do to get rid of them...I've accepted them for 2 years now and at night I swear HUNDREDS of them come out! I hate to think of killing them...But it's a fricken snail farm!:eek3:

I really don't want to start my new tank with snails and if they are not in free-flowing water, but perhaps living in or laying eggs in my filter...how will I know?

Snails aren't that bad of a thing to have in your tank, pond snails help keep some of the algae at bay (not really that big of help though), ramhorn snails keep your gravel clean and mixed it up to avoid muck build up. I whole heartedly embrace them in my tank. As long as you don't overfeed, keep up on water changes, and remove dead plant matter you shouldn't have a "snail farm" And snail traps are easy DIY projects to remove alot at one time if need be, But like I said, cutting down on thier food source will limit there population.

you would find snails in the filter. thats why i said if you just do a fishless cycle then move it over the fish.

That's what I'm doing..fishless while away on vacation.

I did have a question about possible hanging a nylon stocking with some gravel to add some beneficials..would that allow snail eggs to get in the new tank.

I mean how small ARE the eggs generally speaking?
