10 gallon ideas

Appropriate for a 10 gal.

6 or 7 red belly Pacus would work very nicely
or a school of bala sharks
or 2 Oscars
or an Arrowana
or a buttikoferi, peacock bass, red devil.

that's what Wal-Mart told me. :joke:

I'm find ing the shrimp idea interesting. I was going to go Nano Reef with it so I could have the little inverts...

Maybe something for the upper part though? But what fish doesn't find shrimp tasty...

The Java Moss is getting boring. It just sits there. I think I need a little more activity in the tank... LOL

Make it a southamerican biotype and go with 2 rams, and a small no nippy tetra, or 2 rams and 3 corys

Ghost shrimp are really interesting to watch... especially at feeding time. (you can see the food travel through their digestive system :-P) I'd put my vote on 3-4 ghost shrimp, and maybe 1-2 really colorful male guppies. That would add some movement without adding a lot of bio load, nor a real increase in effort to maintain that tank.

Dwarf gouramies are always a good bet...

<--- I would suggest a pair of these, but they'd be a bit too large for your 10g.

So excited that your considering a shrimp tank!! I think that you could probably get away with a small school of neons or other small tetras, if you wanted fish as well. Let us know what you end up doing!! Good luck! ;)

:OT: :OT:
5Tank--How come I can never see your avatar? It's always a red X for me?

I think a 10's small for rams, too. Nanacara would work better for a small cichlid.

Other ideas-

Unusual livebearers- Limia, Skiffia, etc.

Splashing tetras would be very unusual. Copella arnoldi. If you're doing tetras, try some of the non-schooling ones. That way you don't need a huge number of them.

Killies, of course. A lot of them would just love that java moss to spawn in. Maybe some killies for the top and gudgeons for the bottom?

Small cory cats- like hastatus.

Badis badis- if you've got a live food source.

A silly tank with air-driven treasure chest, diver, etc? With kuhli loaches to stand in for moray eels? Or piles of junk cars and old tires?

Some of the really small unusual barbs or rasboras?
