10 Gallon Mixed Reef

So the tank isn't cracked, but the left front corner is leaking where the two panes meet so the tank still has to be replaced. I was able to stop the leak with super glue over night and while I'm at work. Tomorrow I'll get a new tank and transfer everything over. This time I'll go with an AGA tank not a walmart one.

I'll post pictures tomorrow once everything is transfered over.

Yup, I mine as well upgrade to a 15 gallon since I built the stand for it's dimensions. If I can't find one by tomorrow I'll have to get another 10 gallon I went to 3 pet shops and none of them had any 15 gallon tanks in stock. I go 2 more to go to tomorrow before I call it quits and get another 10 gallon.

Tadaa!!
I'll share my adventure later I gotta go somewhere now.

sounds like my luck, except city water killed my fresh water tank by changing chems with no warning killed plants and fish.

So my day starts out by going to my LFS to get my usual 15 gallons of water every Friday, when I get there they ask how my Red Planet is doing because the same day I purchased mine they got a new shipment of them that weren't browned out, they tell me to bring it in and swap it out ( I kinda wanted to wait till I had the 15 up and running as to not stress it out but the old brown one was suffering from STN so I didn't know if it would last another week or not) needless to say I ended up swapping them out anyway.

Now your caught up on that situation here's my tank swapping nightmare.
I start out mixing only 5 gallons thinking I'll use the 10 gallons from the tank and add the 5 news gallons, horrible idea I should've had and extra 15 gallons ready to go. So I empty 5 gallons from the tank into a bucket where I put the sixline wrasse(RIP) and all the live rock. The corals go into a styrofoam bait bucket to keep the temp. from getting too low (another horrible idea they should've gone into a 5 gallon bucket with a heater and powerhead). Set the tank up and swapped the sand over after debating whether or not to go bare bottom ( I chose not to because I want this tank to look somewhat natural) Oh yea I only have 5 gallons in the tank since I wanted to scrub the rocks down before going into the new tank I had use the water they were in already(no this water didn't go into the tank) start mixing up another 10 galons of water keep in mind it's like 9pm already and I have to work the next day. Also the red planet is still in the bag from the LFS since I didn't want to acclimate two times in one day (another bad idea should've just acclimated to the water with the other corals). With nothing left to do I go out to a friends house and get back a 2am, I figure the new water has been mixing long enough so I fill the tank all the way up. Holy sandstorm batman!! Hoping it would clear up in the morning I went to sleep. I wake up at 6am and still can't see no more than an inch intot he water, I didn't want to put the corals in that water so I was left with no choice but to leave them in the bait bucket and the red planet still in the baggy from the LFS. I get out at 5pm and the water is still cloudy, I decided to aquascape and while pulling all the rock out I find my six line dead at the bottom:headshake2:. Moving on (biggest screw up here) I read that when corals are shipped it's best to get them out of it's water as soon as possible and to just temp acclimate it (well it's been temp acclimating all night I'll just take it out the bag and throw it in the bait bucket with the other corals) WORST IDEA EVER!!!! I checked on it 20 minutes later find the most of the tissue peeled off:swear: I now realize how fast RTN works. To end this long story I transfer the other corals over and they're doing fine, they lost some color but otherwise fine.

Quick recap/ moral of the story I was totally unprepared, and don't experiment with expensive corals.

Oh yea I added a koralia 3 for more flow( so now I have a maxi jet 1200,900, and k3 for flow), the sand got kicked out the corners and along the fron glass but everything is settled now.

And I bought another red planet today(pictured).
