10 gallon planted progress pictures

Rotundifolia and indica have somewhat minute differences. They are commonly confused with each other. True indica tends to be more intense in its coloration, I believe. Also, according to APC:

"This plant can be differentiated from the closely related R. indica by the differences in the two species' inflorescences. R. rotundifolia bears groups of terminal inflorescence while R. indica has solitary flowers on the axis of the leaves."

The plants look nice. As far as aquascaping, I suggest picking a layout that you want to go with, be it concave or convex, center mound, or triangle. As it is now, there is no real form to it all. The large leaved java in the middle is kind of separating the tank into two parts, also. Aquaticplantcentral has an awesome aquascaping forum...its a great resource for inspiration and feedback.

two 15 watt flourescent strip lights,

I have an idea of what I want the plants to do but last time I grew stem plants and trimmed them back algae grew more than I wanted it to after the trim. I had some idea about the way I wanted the plants but they arn't quite cooperating nor have they grown enough for me to trim them to my idea.

I think I want a few more species of plants. My lfs isn't able to get ahold of baby tears and I don't know what else I might reasonably grow in the tank to work with as far as arrangeing. The saggitarius has been disapointing, I thought it was the low light that kept them from doing well befor but I'm still not getting them to grow.

Suggestions of plants I might try? would glosso survive my lighting level?

Looks good! I think some hardscape would help, I'm partial to bogwood, but rocks can work well too. The plants look really healthy, the tank is nice and clean, I think it's great that you turned a negative (your wife's bad experience with the shellies) into such a positive. A+ :D

I turned the driftwood to show a better side of it and I think that improved the look of the tank.

Quick identify the camera in the picture :D

Later after I have more plants to work with I'll try another layout with what I have in the tank. I won't be moveing the crypts but I can do alot with the other plants around them.

I have experimented with some flourish excel, and try to remember flourish for traces Tuesdays and Thursdays midweek. But on a regular basis I have not added anything for carbon. There is a healthy population of snails and limpets that add a small amount.

I am getting some new plants this week. The guy that I'm getting them from has grown them emersed if possible. I'll see what I need to do with them befor I think about redesigning the tank.
