10 gallon stocking!

Cats :D
Anyway I like the ideas so far. A endlers or celestial pearl danio species tank would be awesome. But the dwarf puffers have always caught my attention. I can't help but say go for the puffers!

I wonder about them myself. I would love to keep some but I don't know how they would do in my tank. There's a lot of unique fish I would like to keep but it sucks because of all the compatibility issues. If I had the chance I would keep puffers, elephant nose fish, Motoro stingrays, a few different cichlids, some bichirs, and a whole slew of others lol.

It's the compatibility issues that keep us getting more tanks instead of just one giant one XD

Only if all fish could live together!

My Betta should be fine in his small tank.

As for the guppies, I think i'll give those back to my brother.

Puffers are very cool, just like all my fish. They're cheap, and fairly easy to care for. And they are just awesome and cute! They are little guys with attitude.

You can find CPD's at some shops under their former common name "Galaxy Rasbora", but I do believe they are classed as danios.
They were re-classed one year after their discovery, and then in 2008 the scientific name was changed to "danio margaritatus"...the common name remains Celestial Pearl Danio in the trade.

I'm amazed no one has commented on turning these frogs loose in a pond. You really should never turn a captive bred (or wild caught) animal that has been around and may have picked something up that could be spread. Let alone they aren't even from here. If they were to live and breed they could become a problem or give the local wildlife some sort of illness. Just a fyi :)

As for the puffers, I've had them and they are so tiny you never see them. And yes they are mean lil sapsuckers lol.

Yep....but some folks just want to have stuff to say they have it...no real desire to maintain it right and when they get bored..flush it or free it...

I heard the frogs croak last night (I think) They have a great climate here in TX for them. (never gets cold) When I put one of my frogs down, she hopped from Lilly pad to lilly pad.

Frogs:
2011-2012
Good luck my friends!

My main concern is that no one, including yourself did not comment on the part of him turning them loose. In fact you posted several times what he could put in the tank without a thought of what he said about the frogs... That was my first thought when I read his question. And before I would even comment on what could or could not be put in the tank I would have pointed this out to him. So your comment is rather late, after you didn't comment on the first part of his post. No need to point fingers now after you let it go in the first place and then decided to comment after it was pointed out.

Rbishop,
Agreed, and when ever possible I think we as a whole should point these things out to others when we see it. I know I may sound rather snotty, but it just amazed me not a single person pointed this out to the person what so ever. I seldom post but this I just had to comment on this post lol.

Ptrick125,
it's not only that they might die but the fact that they could have an illness they could spread to local wildlife or cause harm to them is the problem. They could very well live I don't know what these animals need to survive, but if by chance they do live they could breed and out compete local wildlife for food and or habitat. This is where others should have advised you before anything was even suggested for your tank.

Anniegump covered the frog issue pretty well, so I'll just state that you'd best catch those frogs if you can and stick them back in the 10gal... regardless of whether you want them or not, you took them into your home and in doing so basically agreed to properly care for them and ensure their survival. By releasing them into the wild you have broken said agreement and I personally would no longer trust you with living creatures.

On to the betta. Why not keep it in the 5.5 gallon tank with some shrimp? That way you get the shrimp and the betta doesn't go into a bowl with water changes every "few days". Also, if it DOES go back into the bowl, you should do a water change every day to prevent a buildup of toxic byproducts like ammonia and nitrite/nitrates. Or have it live in a heavily planted nanotank (like a vase with plants and such, they can look very nice if you do this).

On to the puffers. As cool as they are, with your track record they would be dead or released into your pond by the end of a week. They need inverts like snails and shrimp to feed off of, and are superpoopers, meaning they need better filtration then other fish of their size. I would avoid them if I were you, until you have prooven your ability to keep high-maintenence livestock (like the frogs) alive and well in a tank.

Now for the Celestial Pearl Danios and the stocking of a 10 gallon aquarium. I think the frogs should go back into this tank, but if they don't here is what I would stock it with:

6X Celestial Pearl Danio
1X Sparkling Gouramis

Then I would plant the tank with a standard 10gal hood/light because plants seem to LOVE that amount of light for a 10gal. I would def have a filter and do 50% water changes weekly.

I hope you listen to the advice and comments people are giving you Patrick.

~Travis
