10 gallon stocking?

Allaboutfish, I was actually contemplating buying a 20 gallon, cause now I'm really digging the glofish idea. Just curious, how would you stock one?

I definitely think they would. If you go glofish there's nothing to worry about though. There is no way (in my eyes) that a baby will survive unless the tank is heavily planted and maybe not even then. But with livebearers you shouldn't feel bad at all. It's all the circle of life kind of thing and fish love a little
live treat every once in a while

Granted I feel bad too in that situation. I'm feeling bad because I think I'm gonna have to euthanize 2 of the baby mollies we just had. They swim in circles and I don't really know what to do. They're surviving so I decided to just let them be until they get big enough that I can see if they're deformed or something =/ it's sad but definitely don't feel bad about fry feeding. It's something fish keepers do constantly and it's all part of nature.

IMO glofish need a 20 gallon tank. they're just modified zebra danios, same requirements. I hate that just bc they make a new fish that people decide that they can have a small tank so they can sell small glofish tanks.

Thank you for your opinion. I only know what I'm told and since they're only about an inch I didn't think they would need a tank that big and have been told I can keep a few in something as small as a 5. I'm glad you said something =)

Can you tell me why you say that though? Is it the bio load or something? With them being as small as they are I never even questioned it when I was told I could house 8 comfortably in a ten

Lol with that mindset yeah you're gonna feel bad XD my girlfriend is like that too. I think of it more along the lines of survival rates. Many babies die from cannibalism, starvation, birth defects, and many other things so adding in predation is about the same and at least it is quick. Especially in an enclosed environment like a tank. Leaving a bunch of mollies in a tank can give you a lot of new fish from breeding but so many get eaten too. I guess it's a little different when you're netting them out yourself with the intent of feeding lol.

I thought before you made a decision you should see what Endlers look like. You can get all males so there are no babies. The males are what is spectacular anyway.

If I get a 20 gal would a school of each be compatible? There are some really cool ones at my lfs...not sure what type though, it just said guppies. They were really bright and had patterns on their tails. How many of each could I do?

Id do like 10 glofish 10 male endlers and then a colorful centerpiece maybe a dwarf gourami.

They are very active, and I believe they do get bigger than an inch.

Yeah, from what I'm reading they're super hyper lol. But do you think as long as the schools are big enough, any fin nipping will be minimized? I'll try to find a picture of the guppies I saw.
