I am going to set-up a 10 gallon Sw tank. The reason i chose to start with a small tank is that its going to be my first Sw tank. I will be going to the lfs tom and would like to know how much of live rock would be sufficent for a 10 gallon.

id say 15 pounds would be good, if you can get the right size pieces to fit in there well. the only problem is that a smaller tank is alot harder to keep stable than a bigger one. im not saying you wont be able to do it, but a little larger tank is usually better to start with, maybe 30 gallon or so.

I agree that a small tank is tougher to keep stable than a big one. On the other hand, it is great training for a big tank. Things tend to get worse faster, like evaporation driving the salinity up, temperature fluctuating, nutrients causing algae blooms, and so on. If you are willing to pay the necessary daily attention that a little tank needs, you will learn a lot relatively quickly.

It also depends on what you want. You can have success if you start out with "easy" corals like mushrooms and zoanthids, plus tough crustaceans like hermits. You're very, very limited if you are thinking about fish, though. Maybe a few neon gobies, but that's about it.

Another vote for about 15 lbs.

I am going to go get the live rock tom and it is already curred. Do I just add it to de-chlorinated water with salt in it or can i use water from my tank which was cycled for freskwater add salt then add the rock, and how long after can i started adding fish. I am in no hurry so what is the best time to start adding the fish.

use the purest water available. Tap water is not ideal but CAN work. RO/DI is best. Don't use water from your FW tank though. it is probaly loaded with nutrients and can cause big algae blooms and what not. very undesireable.
