What about Queen Loaches. are they too large for a 29g?? if not how many should i get?

Try 5 Botia striata or Botia rostrata.

Yeah, 8" is way too large for a 29 gallon. I would say a even a 55 gallon would be pushing it for a group of them.

I really like my zebra loaches and my black kuhlis and regular kuhli. I'd recommend those. My zebras aren't shy at all and come out during the day and same with the blacks. My tank is even planted and has hiding places but they still come out, I see them all the time.
