I might have the chance to get a FREE (or next to free) 100 gallon tank. I think I would like to try my hand at cichlids...maybe convicts? What do you guys think I should do? I would have to purchase lighting, filtration, airpump and a heater, but the stones and tank are free, so I can purchase whatever necessary to accomodate a nice group of cichlids. Thanks for help/advice.

Lake Malawi or Lake Tanganyikan community would really be great to watch.:) Cons will only limit your choices as they get extremely aggressive even during spawning times. Note that cons have a tendency for being very prolific. The benefit lies with selling a lot of fry though and even making them feeders for your predators. But this may depend on the Law of Supply and Demand in your area.

Good luck.:)

^^and then you could have lots of dither fish!

lol FW mate....

haha.

Well, if FW is a must, Discus are my personal faves. You could have about 10 in there, with some dithers (like cardinals and corys) too.
