Not a thing if you want them to be the only fish in a tank that size. Sounds to me though that he wants more then a couple fish.
hmmm... i've convinced him down to a JD, O and the pleco. would the JD and O have aggression problems? and neon, I still would reccomend getting just the O and the pleco.

I've never kept a JD or an O but I wouldn't think so as long as they are started out the same size. Maybe just a tad bigger JD then O to start.

I've got first hand experience with a JD and O mix. I got the Oscar at a very small size thinking it would be submissive even after he got bigger than the JD and blood parrot. He went from half an inch to almost 4 inches in less than three months. And was bullying the JD (who was originally about 2 inches bigger than the O) so much that the JD did nothing but hide. when it came out of hiding ,the O would chase it around and viciously nip at it. I really like my JD, so I decided to put the O up for adoption (Petco provides that service). Needless to say, oscars grow super fast and most will tend to dominate the tank in a matter of months. IMO, there are a lot of more attractive fish that will grow at a reasonable rate, leaving more room for other fish. With a 100 Gallon tank, I think the EBJD, JD, pleco and the acaras would be fine. But only if you don't mind regular water changes and have lots of filtration.

One thing about the Electric blue JD is that they are VERY fragile, and most don't live to exceed the 2 inch mark. Keep that in mind before paying lots of money for one.

If it were my tank, I would get one or two cichlids (your choice, but not an Oscar), and then get 3-6 Silver dollars. With Cichlids, you'll want some dither fish to watch while they are relaxing in their hiding places and SD's are pretty nice looking fish.

Good luck!

Yeah what he said. lol

if you want alot of fish dont get any of the fish you have and get 100 neons lol

but seriously if you want more than 3 fish dont go with the oscar, JD, and pleco.
if you want cichlids, get a school of 6 angels and a severum or festivum, and then you still have room for some bigger schooling fish like black skirt tetras or congo tetras

that would make a nice looking tank as well. It all depends on what you want in a tank. Angels will be visible all the time, but I've heard they are somewhat less hardy than SA/CA Cichlids, but that may not be important to you if you have a lot of experience. The congo tetra seems kind of neat, I just googled it, but it doesn't get that big and will be an expensive treat if you decided to get a JD or comparable sized cichlid. try to picture how large the fish will be at full size before you commit to anything, it'll save you trouble down the road. good luck and let us know what you choose to go with. and then show us some pics later on. Later

i was on oscarfish.com and saw on 1 guys profile that he had an 100g with a 8inch o and 5inch ebjd so it can work. Remember, bioload is no problem since i do 50% wcs and gravel vac daily on my 100g, which my o loves.

wow, 50% daily water changes on your 100 gallon tank?!? that is a lot! I would have burned out from that amount of work a long time ago. Of course, I use the bucket method, so it would probably be impossible for me to make time to get all that done. lol. and I'm sure its possible to have an oscar and a EBJD, I'm just saying that oscars will outgrow a regular JD in a hurry, and EBJD's supposedly grow a little slower and are little more fragile. Good luck with everything!
