100lbs of sand enough for mbunas?

i'm getting normal play sand to put in my tank, and before you criticize me, i'm soaking it in hot water when i do get it. so don't go all hysterical saying "you are killing your fish if you do that!" anyways, is 100lbs enough for a 55g? i want at least 2 in if not 3 or more of sand.

I think that's too much? I have 40-45 lbs in my 55 gallon. I also used play sand, it's safe mine was just a little dirty.

alright. well i was told that it was a good idea to double the amount of substrate you use to how many gallons your tank is. i personally would like the sand to stack up at least 2 inches if not 3. and how did you eventually get your play sand cleaned?

I poured the sand into a large bucket with water and sturred it around with my hand, then dumped out most of the water.

Just do that a couple of times, until the water gets clearer.

it will be atleast 3" with 100lbs of sand.

I bought 100lbs for my 55gal reef tank, I have 3" in the tank, 4" in the fuge, and had about 1/4-1/3 of a bag left over.

Well I used pool filter sand, but after losses from rinsing you should still have plenty.
