10G or 15G?!

im thinking of a 7G tank (17"W X 15"D X 10"H - 7 Gallon). I could move it without taking the fish out, its acrylic. its cheap. and i could get a decent amount of fish. What do you guys think about that idea?

You couldnt get that many fish in a 7 gallon, remember the fish need space to swim around and play, in a larger tank there is more space for them to do that, so having more fish is acceptable, but in a smaller tank it reduces the number of fish you can have by a factor. for example the wonderful rule of the inch says that you could have 7 neon tetras? IMO thats just mean.

What is a 'decent amount' of fish? Remember the number of fish you can have will depend greatly on the type of fish you want. You could theoretically have about a dozen fish if you went with Endlers or least Killies, they stay small, but only two if you went with puffers and did a species tank. Several white clouds and an otto or two wouldn't be bad, but you can't add much if you wanted say, a larger livebearer or dwarf gourami. IMO a dwarf gourami would be pushing it in a 7g, I’m not even fond of these guys in 15g…

i was planning on maybe a school of tetras (neons) maybe about 5 of them, a plant and maybe an oto to clean up alittle bit

 'little' is cute but not highly functional for a group of fish. Not to mention a nitemare to keep stable. Give yourself & more importantly your fish some room to work. You & they will be much happier. JMHO Good Luck

I agree with most you posted but how could you get several white clouds in a 7 gallon tank? They get bigger than neon tetras, close to 2 inches in length.
