I've been out of the aquarium game for a couple of years now, and decided to get back in with something a little different.
I was inspired by this thread on a 5.5g paludarium and decided to try to do something similar w/a 10g tank.
I am starting completely from scratch on this, and just ordered some equipment to get started after a few days of researching.
I can get a 10g glass tank locally for cheap, so I ordered the following...
Glass top
Incandescent strip light (in which I plan to install 2 6500k CFL's)
Duetto DJ50 filter
Stealth 50w heater
Eco Complete substrate
So next I'll pick up the tank itself, and then worry about the scape... was thinking cork but geez it's expensive. Looks like about $72 shipped for a large chunk to CT from a recommended seller. Couldn't find any locally except for very small pieces.
Does anyone have alternate ideas? I'm thinking I want to fill the tank about halfway, maybe with some cherry barbs below, and plants either emersed or entirely above the water line. (Not sure what kind of plants yet, still some research to do... ideas?)
I have a couple of nice pieces of driftwood from an old tank I think, so I'll have to dig around and see what I've got to work with before I go spending $100 on decor.
Any thoughts or feedback are welcome... will be a long work in progress, so I'll try to make updates w/pictures as applicable. Nothing to show yet.
Thanks.
