10g Planted

Thanks, Sev:) Your tanks are awesome.

Here are a couple of updates. I just did a water change and 'major' pruning so sorry about the water clarity. Also, I played with the camera settings a bit by lowering the exposure compensation to -2.0. The lights make it hard to get a good pic sometimes depending on the angle. I think it made the shots look a bit grainy but the color rendition is very close to what it looks like in person.

How are the rest of your plants doing, BradH? What's your setup?

The rest of my plants are doing good. I have a 29 gallon tank with 36 watts which is like 1.2 wpg, but it's T5 lighting and I was told it was actually more like 1.5 or more. I don't know if that is correct or not. I just started dosing excel this week, along with other ferts. The pennywort is just floating on the top of the water, but it really doesn't grow at all. The rest of my plants are all growing fine though.

No CO2? If not, try some DIY for awhile. That and the new ferts should help out as it seems you have enough light.

I'm sort of scared to get into co2. lol Probably sounds stupid, but I don't know enough about it and I've read things like it messes with pH and stuff like that. Do you really think I need Co2 with that amount of light? By the way, sorry to turn this thread into something else.

Slappy my friend, always good to hear from you. What I love about your tank is its simplicity. You have four groups of plants with some cryps and thats it. Each compliments the other well and you have contrast in shape and color and room for it to grow. It doesn't look over crowded or underplanted. Very nice job.

No worries. CO2 isn't always necessary at that light level, though it certainly would help with any growth issues you're experiencing. The effects on pH is negligible, especially with DIY. Fish don't suffer from pH swings as much as you'd think. Osmotic shock is the real culprit, and CO2 has no effect on that.
DIY CO2 is easy to setup and if eventually you do try it and see results, you may even go pressurized. :)
