10G Vampire Crab Paludarium

Looking good Chris!

I know that Lowes sells Sarracenia purpurea, D. adelae, and VFTs for sure.

Seems that HD does or at least did carry CP's at some point. I never found any at my local stores though.
:iagree: I feel like I remember seeing them there, but when I went to look, there was nothing. Lowes is the only place that I know of (at least as a chain) that has them. Lots of local garden centers will at least carry VFT's.

Thank you guys! :) I'll check out Lowes. My local garden store has those 3 plants right next to each other. I'll be getting a sundew tomorrow. I'm gonna be feeding them wingless fruit flies since the amphibians will eat them too. :)

Sounds yummy!

Ugh. I'm getting a lot of mix information on the fauna that I'm gonna be putting in the Paludarium. I don't know what to dooooooo. :(

I was thinking about Fire Bellied Newts but someone on Caudata.org said that they need 10G of full water and are completely aquatic. I don't wanna house them in 2.5G of water if they aren't gonna thrive. A lot of sites that I've been reading said they'd recommend 3/4 water 1/4 land. I have 1/2 land and 1/2 water (2.5G) in a 10G. I AM SO CONFUSED.

I might just go with the dwarf shrimp and anole idea. :/

I went over to the LFS and got a piece of driftwood that would fit the tank perfectly. I really think a single anole would do fairly well in my set-up. I might have to add another piece of long branch going across the tank.

Updates:

-Added 4 Anubias near the fountain
-Added a branchy driftwood
-Added Java Fern in the rocks
-Added Black Babaultis
-Added Java Moss
-Lined the outside with white river rocks to prevent peat from going into the water
-Added sponge from shrimp tank

And pics:

Looks great!

Is the land portion 100% peat? Might want to add in something else like pearlite to loosen it up...that's what most people use in pots with their Cp's. Not sure if that is safe for whatever critters you are planning on though.

Alright. I'll get some perlite tomorrow while getting the Sundews. :) The anole shouldn't touch it though.

Thanks! :)

I'll have an updated picture tomorrow with all the plants in the tank.

Can't wait to see more pics! You can substitute perlite with things like pumice or orchid bark if you don't want to use perlite.
