Sorry but I forgot the surface must be mostly still for a betta to breed, you probably don't want to breed him but bettas will build bubble nests when they are happy and are in an environment that they are pleased with and immitates their natural habitat. So if you get a bubble nest pat your self on the back!!

Yes he had a bubblenest in the back right corner before i turned the bubbler on. The "biofilm" was all over the tank and looked like white dust... hard to explain.
I am thinking of getting a little bit of some kind of floating plant and place it in "his" corner. That should break the little surface flow that there is now and make it possible for him to build another nest.
