you gonna do a background? I just ask because I didn't stick mine on my 120 before filling....what a pita.

yeah, I bought a background that has one side blue and the other black..
I am leaning towards the black side but I don't know until I see it with the black gravel in...
I am thinking:
black stand
black trim
black silicone
black gravel
black background LOL
with silvery fish (more barbs, redhooks etc and perhaps some south american cichlids (severums, geophagus), it might look pretty cool...

..and here it is..black on black on black. I think it will make my fish really stand out...
tank is set up, filled..I havent hooked up the XP3's yet, just the AC. havent put the heaters on yet either - will do that closer to the time fish go in...

the problem is, I cant really have driftwood/rocks etc in the tank when the large active fish are big.
I could add it when small but would only have to remove it as they grow..
I used to have nice wood in my 90 etc. but found out the hard way that large fish can get spooked, smash into the wood, and get injured.....

Black silicone looks wicked hot! I'm going to have to get some for these tanks I have to reseal. Added bonus that you can treat the tank with meds that would normally dye clear silicone and not have to groan about it.
yes, I am very happy with the black silicone.
glad I paid the extra $40 bucks for it - well worth it.
i realized long ago after buying a 65 that had black silicone that i would never go back to a clear silicone tank...

You probably won't be able to use that fireplace very much since the heat is in direct path to the tank and will raise the temp quickly.
hmm..it might - I will have to see.
the thing is for the short durations I will probably have it on for, it might not make a signficant impact on the tank temp.
I am thinking 150 gallons of water is a whole lot of water to heat up quickly...
