12 Volt Man's New Fishroom Thread

that sucks. its not to that huge of a scale, but i had serpae tetra's in my 46 bowfront, and when i got my baby angels, their poor fins were gone within three days.

i dnt know why fish need to nip other fish. haha. its completely unnecessary

update: I sold all the existing torn up fish to the LFS, including the clown loaches that I still had, as they literally had no barbels/faces left. they were obviously fighting with each other, nippy *******s.

so, I went to the LFS (actually a few of them in the area lol) in search of a new set of hopefully peaceful loaches, some severums or geophagus, and some red tinfoils, which will be more colourful than the yellow fins, and stay a bit more managable size for my tank.

all I came back with was 6 very small tinfoils (they were 3 for $7 so I figured what the hell). I also put the filamentosa's in.

as tiny as these fish all look in the tank, I have to remember that the yellow fins were this size back in January..so these fish will grow fast.

I will post periodic updates as they grow and colour up..

my current goal is to grow the largest red tinfoils ever seen in Canada LOL

although down the road I likely will not keep all 6 of them..

sigh....looks so empty.....

the fish are small, but the tank is actually a lot more active then before..

I think in the long run, because this fish should not nip each other to death, this will be a better look for the tank.

having tinfoils which will max out at around 12-14" rather than 18-20" like the lemon fins, is probably a better fit anyway considering the tank is 18" wide..

it also eliminates a fear I had of a massive lemon fin getting spooked and jumping up, making contact with a cross brace and cracking it.

some of you may recall one of my old 18"er's jumped right through the glass lid of my 90. they are unbelievably powerful at that size..
