Hey everyone, its been awhile since I have posted..

some of you may remember shots of my two giant lemon finned barbs (in a 90 soon to be 150).

well... the other day - disaster struck :(

one of the monsters jumped right through my glass top and two strip lights during the night..too late by morning.

the fish must have got spooked and hit the top with such force that it pushed up the peice of glass, sliding back one of the 4 foot lights (turning it on in the process) and made it out of the tank.

I could not believe it had I not seen it with my own eyes..

even with a full glass top (old style 3 peice) and two 4 foot lights on the tank, the monster fish made it out.

as luck would have it, my LFS had a few small ones in (about 4 inches) and I grabbed one. I would like to have grabbed all three, but a 4 inch barb will be 10 inches long in about 6 months the way these fish eat. I don't have the room for more than two until I relocate them to a monster tank..

so far, no problems with the monster 18 incher swimming with the little one..

Oh man.. I can't even imagine how much that would suck, that sounds rough. :shakehead: Good luck with the new guy

P.S. They are gorgeous

That 90 looks TINY with those huge fish.

those guys rock.. where did you get them? ive seen them in the books, but couldnt find much when i went to research them... they are super cool. sorry you lost one.. :/

I got them from my LFS. they are actually hard to find in my area, since getting these ones as babies three years ago, I have only seen a tank of them one other time.

thats why I had to grab one while I could.

its sort of conicidental that a customer brought them in right at the time disaster struck, so I had to jump at the chance.

the timing will work out good, because by the time the new one is good sized, I will have my new place and new 6 foot tank..

so it should work out okay in the end I hope..
