125 Gallon Stand Issues

I've got problems. I have not put water into the aquarium, but I notice that the stand is not reaching the aquarium in all areas, ie it appears to be sagging in the middle. The stand meets the aquarium perfectly on the ends, but there is about a 1/8 inch gap at the center (this occurs on both sides of the aquarium: front and back).
Is this something that may affect the stability of the aquarium? I was thinking that I could put some additional wood in there so that it is straight. Any other suggestions.
Thanks.

Since it's so even, I would suspect the stand is warped. It may not be a big deal if it settles once filled with water, but you should be able to determine that before filling it. The floor it's sitting on is level? Measurements from top to bottom at each end and in the middle are the same? What about diagonal measurements from corner to corners?

It's completely level. I had another idea though. Perhaps I could sand/cut down the edges approx 1/8 of in inch so that it is all level. Any woodworking experts out there? Would that work?

The stand is completely level and square? Then your tank isn't. The stability of the stand won't be comprimised if you sand a little off but that won't matter if the tank blows out or springs a leak. Personally, I would test fill it part way to see if the tank will flex and sit on the stand all the way around. Since you know the stand is level and square, the tank will then be too. Better that then have it flex on an uneven stand imo.

125g

It may be appropriate to do some measurements on the tank. If the tank is out of square, that is the problem that needs to be fixed. If the tank is out of square and new, I would be having a wee visit with the vendor. It takes a lot of shopvacs full of water to clean up 125g of water! I just set up a 125g and all was hunky dorey when I put the tank on the stand. Full contact all the way around. It does however, seem real strange that the tank would be out of square as it is likely that the tank was assembled in a jig that insures the tank is square. I would be far more suspicious of the stand. Not having the base of the tank supported on the full circumferance of the tank base is going to stress the corner seals and is likely to result in a leak problem.
Cheers

Unfortunately the vendor is in Houston and I am now in Baton Rouge, LA (change of jobs). I think if I sand it down so that it is even it will all be okay. Anyhow, the thing is currently in storage.

I'm just having very bad luck with it. In addition to the stand not being level, I managed to chip the front piece of glass on the aquarium itself. :(

I would think a LFs in Baton Rouge, that is worth it's salt (pun intended) that carried the same breed of tank would go to bat for you. Once you start down the sandy road there is no turning back. Have a go at the locals. Give them
opportunity to perform and likely win you over as a customer!

What about using a piece of 3/4" foam insulation cut to the same dimension as the bottom of your tank?
That is still just a fix. i would try and get it made right by the manufacturer. it takes a long time to clean up a leak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately there are 2 problems, first, the aquarium and stand was made by a local houston company; second, when I said that the LFS were pretty poor in Baton Rouge, I really meant it. There is one good one that specializes in salt water, but thats about it.
