135 gal tank

So what are planning on stocking it with?

yeah! do tell!

as far as stocking I'm open to any and all suggestions... keep in mind I've got quite a bit of work ahead of me..

how about a oscar and a trinidad plceo? i've always wanted to do that setup.

I had an OLD 150 gal I sold last week. It had very thick glass. THICK. No center brace. We got a piece of 3/8 inch plexi glass, cut it in half and dropped it down into the ledge on the rim of the tank. Worked GREAT for a top. Then we bought a strip light and sat that directly on top. The plexiglass is safe, it won't over heat. You could then build a wood canopy if you wanted. Also the cabinet on ours was pine, easy to strip/sand. I refinished it and it was really nice when we got it done.

I just got a 150XH off craiglsist and also has the center braced removed. The previous owner didnt want the shadow in it from the lighting, but he said he built a really heavy duty canopy that helped brace it. I am not sure how much wood is going to help brace such thick glass though.

BTW my tank is 1/2" glass and still had a center brace, even though its only a 4' tank. 1/2" is also as thick as tanks come up to a few hundred gallons as far as I am aware of.

Thanks for the replies, I've got some thinking to do as I reseal the inside... I finished the bottom today.. before I start on the tank tomorrow I'm going to the LFS to see what the can get for me... 72 x 18 frame with braces or some glass strips to silicone in .. i'll let you know what i find out...
