150 gal. tank...?

Good deal if it is aquarium quality. Just make sure the silicone is still in good condition and not totally hard and dry. It should be intact all the way around the interiod and somewhat pliable when you press a fingernail against it.

I forgot to mention that the glass thickness and weight between a reptile and fish aquarium in 150 gallon would be dramatic. The glass thickness on all panels should be very close to 1/2 inch thick, unless the depth is really low like 16 inches, long and narrow can be 3/8" thick. There is a basic aquarium glass height & size and thickness table you can use here. http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/pl...bles--Diagrams/Glass-Thickness-Calculator.htm

even 3/8 thick on a 150 should be ok if it has a cross bar, but as gunner said, it depends on the dimensions. The 125 I just made is 3/8" thick glass and it is 60" long with 2 cross bars and I've had no issues.

Another point is most terrariums are not built with a "frame integrated cross brace." aquariums generally will have them unless it is a rimless.

Well,to answer all the questions and doubts. measurements are 48"x25 1/2"x24 1/2" (comes out to 125 +/- gal)the glass appears to be about 3/8" +/-thick. there is a small sticker on the bottom that says *Aquarium* The previous owner bought it from someone that had snakes in it. They scrubed it with a 10% bleach solution and then rinsed the hell out of it. They filled it with water to the top for 24 hours and no leaks. The only downside to this tank is, someone cut the upper cross bar off. All I have to do is figure out how to put one back on it. for $75 I couldn't pass it up.

Don't worry about the center brace. Quite a few custom tank builders told me when I Tom them I was planning on repairing broken braces on my 125gal they said no need. They are mainly for consumers piece of mind. That thin little plastic braces don't do much and the glass ones might possibly help, but is still redundant. All the pressure is focused on the bottom(water pressure increases with depth.) and there is no physical center bracing at the bottom right?

Just my 2 cents

I would silicone on a brace. I had a tank with a broken brace and there was a gap, took some effort to bring it together. Maybe it's just me, but I think that means the glass has bowed out, no?
I would add it just for peace of mind...
My 90g tank has a center brace, little less than half inch glass.

yes, there is a center brace in the center on the bottom outside of the glass.

Wow that's strange, I have 4 135gals and 1 125gal and none have a bottom center brace. Maybe old school. Lot of older tanks were ridiculously over built! Not that that is a bad thing...

And the tank with a broken brace might have a gap in the brace, but not necissarily bowed glass, the plastic shrinks with age and heat from lighting... Could be the glass but most likely the plastic. Glass doesn't bow much before it breaks. Not a very pliable material

hmmm... pretty interesting conversation... I could swear though that someone here had their center brace break and not too long after, the tank wound up exploding... however, saying this now... I have to wonder if the tank had an issue in the first place since the center brace broke in the first place.... just thinking out loud here...
