150 Gallon Build Thread ... From the Start

I bet you sure are glad to finally see it sitting in the front room instead of the garage, huh? You did an awesome job man! Can't wait to see how the inside of the tank comes together now.

Thanks Mind - you have no idea how "glad" we are to have it in the house (LOL). I appreciate you following the thread and the support.

Everything is coming together so nicely. It is awesome to see something like this being built here in the Portland area.

You should check out the Oregon Plant Enthusiasts group. Going to one of our plant swap would be a good way to get a lot of the plants to fill that tank up.

Impressive build. Can't wait to see light in it especially with the woodscape and plants.
What is the live stock going to be along with Discus? Or the post number of your chosen stock so you don't have to rewrite it all out.

Thank you very much!

Along with the standard clean up crew, we will likely have a nice size school of rummies and cardinals - should be a nice mix.

WOW....I read all of this and you Coy are a true craftsman...I am a electrician, have been for 20 years and I put the same craftsmanship,in my work also...very nice build...but still no water LOL!!!!

I sincerely appreciate the compliment Steamer - that water is coming ...

Thanks for following the thread!

Getting in with both feet now ...

First, a couple of pics for Vader (we all know how he loves DFS)

Let the fun begin (I'm 6'5" and it still takes a ladder to get into this one)

Started installing the Eheim 2217s

Was originally going to go with 3 2217s and a 2215 for the Co2 / UV Sterilizer loop ... with all the "clutter" at the top of the tank (3 ins / outs), I think we will run only the 3 2217s, with one of them running the loop.

I also had to lose the in line heaters. Although an excellent idea, it was just really crammed in trying to install them above the Eheims and behind the tank. I used the 2 Stealths instead (250 watts each). Have a Stealth in my 45 and have been real happy with it.

I am currently doing a trial fit on the loop. Will pull out the plywood, paint it black and hopefully install it tomorrow.

The 2217 will set in the middle ...

And, of course the clamps go bye-bye!

Thanks for checking it out!

The best is yet to come ...
