150 Gallon Build Thread ... From the Start

Great thread and you've built up quite a nice tank!! Looks very relaxing! The stick catfish you have is a Farlowella. They are very cool and prefer to be in small groups IMO. They need wood in their diets and nice steady water movement so your tank is just perfect for them! They also like to 'ride the rapids' at times so a small powerhead would do 'em well.......but I don't think your plants would like it :)!

Thank you Bubbles for the compliments (and the insight on the Farlowella)!!

Been outa town, so catching up now... Very nice man! Love the red lines, and YAY, GBRs!!! :) I would stay at your current wattage with the way things are growing in your tank, and I totally agree about some plants doing well and others not so well for now clear reason in different tanks. Yours is really coming along great though. I'll update my own thread soon as I get a trim done. Came home to a jungle after being gone for a week! LOL!

Thanks Mind - the red lines are bad ***!!!

Yep - staying w/ 160W for now is the plan. About time for the first major trim!!

My daughter's Lego Tank (I should have let her build mine - it only took her about 10 minutes) ~~

Updates after 7 weeks with water ~~

First really big trim today ...

Pulled out the majority of the Penny Wort (kind of a starter plant - need to watch closely for algae). Still running 160W - 3 on, 6 off, and 6 on daily.

Made some new (spaced) additions to the right end (ludwigia cuba - I believe). Hope those plants grow in nicely - it would be a great look. We have one in the 45 - sweet plant!

Also, the java moss is growing very nicely (never could get that to grow in the 45)!

Added a tank mate for the Twig Cat (Farlowella) as well ...

Thanks for looking!! :thm::thm:

Looks great.

I don't know if it ever bothers you, but when I had a canopy, I didn't like it when I could see the light coming through around the doors. If that is an issue to you, you could use some kind of foam gasket around the doors. It might also cut down on any fan noise you might have.

Are you going to the GPAS plant auction tonight?
