lol tough.. easy.. add 3 papers in a hat.. make sure 2 are black gravel 1 is river gravel.. and choose :grinyes:
I wish we could see a live tank with black gravel. All those in the LFS (probably 400 or 500) and not one with black gravel (lol).
By the time I am done with it you probably won't be able to see the substrate anyway (lol)!!
lol if you want ill post a video or 2 of my tank so you can see GREAT contrast with black gravel
yeah, I believe Estes spectrastone has a coating over it.
I have had mine for 2 years so far, no difference in colour.
I would think that your tank silicone seals would probably wear out long before the gravel would lose its coating..

I would definitely not go with lighter coloured gravel with intense lighting.
inevitably, you get algae on the gravel..even though you turn it over each week while pythoning, over time, it all gets a bit green..
I have white gravel and I hate it.. never again.
black/dark colours hide all this..

see this is why i dont see why you really care about what gravel you go for.. I say get a few bags of black flourite/eco complete and other half regular black gravel, do a mix and BAM you are done. This way it will be good for plants and careless for the eye
