150 Gallon Build Thread ... From the Start

Careful, Vader... Next thing you know someone is gonna set up a system like this and start asking Coy for help!

Of course everything he posts to help this next guy out will start out with "Well, when I set mine up, Vader said..." ROFL!!

Vader who?!? :lipssealedsmilie::lipssealedsmilie:

Wow - going back after an hour or so and there is the tiniest leak (which turns into a 150 gallon leak over time) on the input of the sterilizer. Also found a bit of water under the side of the 2217. I have laid out some toilet paper to better catch the spot. Will check in an hour or two ...

4 more hours and no drops under the sterilizer! Hopefully the drop came from the install and ran down the Eheim tubing and "not" from the connection to the sterilizer!

The output of the Eheim just needed to be reattached - not sealed good the first time.

All you plumbers out there - can the smallest of leaks (w/ teflon tape) possibly seal themselves? Just can't see how the drop ended up where it did if it came from the install. Anyway, 4 hours of dry and counting!

You have learned much young one.... (begin all Star Wars jokes/puns.... now)

Great news that the leak seems to be fixed... if you don't see any more drops by the a.m. I'd keep an eye on it but otherwise call it water-tight :headbang2:

The Fluval 205 I have powering my loop is only rated to 40 gallons; your 2217 is rated to what, ~150? You're going to turn over so much more water in your setup and really reap the benefits of that UV sterlization and gas diffusion. Congrats again on an awesome setup! The pH controller will be cake compared to this.

I can't wait to call it water-tight (lol)!

We did a 15% WC and found the flow of the 2217 running the loop is "nearly" the same as the other 2 - good to see it doesn't cut down on the performance that much!
