very nice little tank and is going to look beautiful when grown in - a black background would look excellent

Yes - a background, lowering the heater some more to minimize its visibility and maybe moving the thermometer rearward would all improve it. Very nice start. - Oh, and that stem plant in the front (rotala or lud - looks like a Bacopa to me...) will get pretty tall, you may want it more toward the back.
