Working on this for some time, today my third Coralife light came in so up it went...and the tank is almost complete, missing a few more fish!!

Currently: 13 Banjos, 6 Cory Sterbai, 2 Royal Farlowellas, 2 Farlowellas, 7 Brilliant Rasboras, 5 Golden Killies -Wanted a South American theme..but I love my Killies-, 1 Golden Nugget, 1 BN -Male-, 1 Chocolate plec, 1 Commom plec,1 Clown plec, 1 Singapore Wood Shrimp-there went the theme-

Moving from 90 in coming weeks: 1 Rhino pleco, 1 BN-Female-MEAN FISH!!, 2 rubber lip plec, and a few others...

All natural, no fake plants/wood. Will be adding more wood later in the week; currently soakin to remove some of the intial heavy tanics. I like tanic in the water, that is why the wet/dry looks "dirty"...

For filtration: Fluval FX5 (~600GPH) and ehopps wet/dry (dual overflow rated at 1200GPH- ~5Gal bio media, 20 Gal sump capacity) with Mag Drive 9.5. "Custom" fluval spray bar (~800GPH). So in theory pushing about 1400GPH!!

I did not go with built in overflows due to the fact that this was for Farlowellas and Pleco's so needed the real estate...

EDIT: FWIW...Wet/Dry was off during picture taking! I always kill it when feeding...canister always on..

Very nice!

Your backround really matches what you have in there fairly well. I think once the plants you have (and maybe a few more) grow in you'll have a most impressive tank. I like it already.

Great start. I want that FX5!!!

Thanks for all the comments!

As far as plants...I have TONS that I had growing in my 55 and have been purchasing for the 180...however, I placed a LOT of fish in the 55 (loricaria X2, dwarf puffer X4, 40 guppies (feeders...breed..feed..), 2 synodontis petricolas, 8-9 amano shrimps-HUGE by the way- and about 70 cherry shrimp and about 12 glass shrimp...as well as some other stuff...(had some dragonfly larvae in there last year..BY MISTAKE...they did not kill anything, but I removed one..the next day I would see another one! ended up having three in the tank...still not sure on what plants they came in on) Had TONS of snails, but now they have been reduced to NOTHING due to the puffers...

In short, CO2 production is higher (IMO) in the 55 than in the 180, plus at this point not sufficient in either to support HEALTHY GROWTH of that many plants-(they are growing SLOWLY and have a deep green color)

So I have been looking for a 10LB CO2 bottle, regulators and needle valves...Friday I am going to a local weld shop to get some numbers....

I am however worried that I will find all my fish DOA!! so still sweating the idea....

Also looking at some fluidized bed filters for my 90 Gal ( currently looking at the Kent Marine rated at 300Gal, it is a calcium reactor that can be adjusted for many roles!! and CHEAP also..~$60!!)

So, keeping my fingers crossed..CO2 should be rolling out soon..and the plants should be OK! I will try with the lighting I have, but I know I will need more...

EDIT: Adding fertilizer (seachem..forgot the name) 1Xweek, fish seem OK with it...will up to 2X week, CO2 should be nice addition but still worried about CO2 AND LIGHTING!!

comments...ideas...appreciated

Decided not to go with the CO2, due to the low levels of light in the aquarium.

Currently using from Seachem:

Flourish
Potassium
Excel

So far...nothing good to add about the plants...

Sure wish I had some hints for you. Just need to be patient, maybe?
