180 gallon mixed reef tank

You dont need a sump mate...A protein skimmer is a valuable addition to the tank, and it is must..When you buy one, make sure it is rated at about twice your tanks capacity in gallons...and as you dont use a sump, buy a hang on the back type...

Can i put a container under my tank so i can put the heater and skimmer in so I don't have all this hanging on my tank. But I don't want to have anything growing in it.
 
yep.. thats what a sump or wet/dry is for.. its an access on the bottom where you can keep your heater skimmer and a sourse of prefilter. you can even hook up your magnum on it. but i say sump because its easier touse and all. everything else looks find. as for rock...the more the better because thats your denitrafacation factory. it breaks down all the ammonian and such. and if your powerhead is blowing to strong split the output with some locline
