180g planted update

this update is long over due! given the type of work i do things can get a little crazy without any notice. so after a 2 month absence its good to be back among my friends here on this site.
i had started a journal of this 180g planted set up when work got in the way. for those of you that had expressed intrest in the begining here is a recent picture along with one from my last post. i will be reposting the info on the system along with plant & stock lists over the next couple of days.
the tank has currently been up and running for 2 1/2 months and is ready for its 2nd trim!

everybody always comments on that plant, it just seems to get brighter red every day

Lovely! Though I can't tell the substrate is half & half with all the plants, LOL. Is it still that way or now more mixed?

Great looking tank. What was the reasoning for the dual substrates?

as for using the differnt substrates, the entire tank has a base of black ECO Complete but the area that i will not have ground cover or dense planting has a cap layer of white sand.in the planted areas the black substrate is less visible where the plants are thin or not yet grown in.
